Good Modem and router, July 24, 2008
By Steven A. Switzer (Buffalo, NY United States)
This is a very good product. Unfortunately, I just lost one because I had left my window open and it rained and got the modem wet and shorted it out. I just bought another one, because I like it. It is easy to use and set up and I have had very little trouble with it.
Once in a great while something would happen and it would have to reset itself and you would have to wait a few minutes to get online and use the network, but other than that it was great. I had it on internet and used it to network all my home computers together both hard wired and wirelessly. I have some computers hard wired to the network and some that are connected wirelessly and they all work quite well with this router and modem.
I would heartily recommend this device to anyone who wants to simultaneously set up a home network and a DSL internet connection.

What a great machine. Perfect price point and functionality. If I ever lived in a DSL only area again, I would buy this.

Mac Users Rejoice! It works perfectly., May 5, 2008
By G Bailey Photography (Palm Bay, Florida)
If you have a iBook, iMac, or any other Apple computer with a Airport card, you can set up this Modem with ease, wirelessly, but don't drive yourself crazy and go it alone, call your internet provider and have them walk you through it. After 3 hours of messing with the disks and trying to install the unit using the CD's and paperwork that came with the unit, I was surfing the net after a quick 15 min call to my internet provider. You first have to plug the unit into the power supply, when the power light stops flashing, then connect the phone cord to the modem. You can then set up the unit by entering the 192.###.1.###.# number into your browser, all dictated to you via your service provider's customer support. There's a built in firewall, but once you entered the password (serial number on the back of the unit) your computer is good to go. People complain that DSL is slow but I have not run into that problem, "I'm running DSL lite (Bellsouth-AT&T) and I download 4 mb MP3's in about 15-25 seconds. Pages load up quickly, including content heavy Myspace pages." This beats the $120 modem my provider wanted to sell me, or $75 for a modem without the wireless capabilities. And the modem is yours to keep!! Your modem can be placed anywhere as long as there is a phone jack and power cord available, and this unit does not have to ever be connected to a computer.

wireless is 54 mbits/s not 108 mbits/s, April 6, 2008
By lookingfora_antivirus? (Moss Beach, CA United States)
this is what it advertises itself to be, an 802.11g modem/router/wireless. that's a wireless speed of 54 mega bit per second. that's really only 24 mega bits per second tops and the further away you get from the access point/modem/router the slower the speed. further away also means if the signal is going through the walls or floor of your house.2WIRE 2700HG ADSL DSL MODEM WIRELESS G ROUTER FIREWALL

A solid all-in-one DSL box, March 29, 2008
By Gadget Man (Silicon Valley, CA USA)
This product was appealing at three levels * It had a very competent set of features * It combined DSL modem, router, wireless access point and switch * At re-furb pricing, it was a real value
Reading reviews, on-line manuals, and checking with friends confirmed that 2wire and this particular model were pretty solid. DSL setup was a snap since it 'self discovers' the majority of settings (AT&T is my isp). The router configuration and features are pretty average - neither good nor lousy. The integrated reports and diagnostics are superior - close to business routers. The wireless signal that it puts out is quite strong, even without external/adjustable antenna. It delivers 'G' level performance in areas of my home that have always had signal issues.
The all-in-one design was key to reducing techno clutter in my home office. Even now I have 10 separate plugs and power supplies at my desk - enough already. This unit replaced a 'vintage' stand alone DSL modem and an integrated wireless router/switch.
After working in high tech for years, I've gotten over a lot of lust for being on the cutting (bleeding) edge. Buying refurb/used provides access to some excellent equipment at pennies on the dollar. And if you make a bad choice, you're only out pennies, not dollars.
Two weeks after setup, no complaints. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this item to someone looking to either upgrade or consolidate equipment.

Can't ask for anyting better, March 21, 2008
By Rick Garza
a wireless unit that is also a router...it's great. The price on these things were almost $200, but It seems the prices have dropped. In any case, this modem is reliable and fast. I ran an ethernet cable 100ft to my other bedroom and the signal was just perfect. Now I have two computers with internet. I suggest getting a belkin ethernet cable.
Overall, a great unit that combines modem and router together. The less hardware on your desk, the better. You will like this unit.

Great for Gamers, March 18, 2008
By EckhartD
I have a computer as well as a Wii, PS3 and DS and I had to have the systems linked with an ethernet cable, which was a hassle because I'd unplug one to plug in the other and my siblings couldn't use the computer when I was playing. I heard about this router from a friend and for 20 bucks, it was well worth it. All 3 systems are linked wirelessly to it as well as my computer and they are all online at once. I've noticed a SLIGHT difrence from the ethernet cable but it's a SMALL diffrence that in the end is bearable because of the sheer convenience of this router.

Outstanding, March 8, 2008
By Under the Influence (Belleville, IL United States)
The 2700 HG has been a blessing. I previously used a 2Wire Router which peaked at 11mbps wireless. Though it worked flawlessly for four years, I just wasn't happy with some of the video playback online. When I saw the 2700 HG priced at $20, there was no doubt that I had to buy it, even a used item.
Literally, I had the network, two wirelss PC's and one ethernet, up and running in less than 20 minutes. An installation CD was included.
For a test run, I pulled up the latest UFC page using computers with both Ethernet and Wireless connections. The web page displays a counter, 0-100% while the video is buffered. In the past it took at least 15 seconds to load a video and then playback included stutters and freezing. With the 2700HG, I was stunned. With a Hyper G 108mbps wireless adapter, the video literally flashed 100% and began playing immediately with no freezing. I risk my credibility when I say that the load time was faster than on the 100mbps Ethernet connected PC.
I have had the product for two weeks now and it runs great.

Unbelievable Price!, February 25, 2008
By D. Hagen (Milwaukee, WI USA)
I bought this modem/wireless router to replace a CenturyTel provided modem and a Linksys router. The 2Wire works very smoothly. It was a breeze to setup with very few values to be entered on the site. Linksys had too many settings to worry about. The item may have been used but it works perfectly with only a few very minor blemishes (who cares, right?) I would definitely recommend this for anyone, especially those that are new to routers. It doesn't get much easier than this.

Wireless..you bet!, November 25, 2007
By Thomas A. Oliva (Chicago, IL)
The right product for the right price. This item got me from down from a seperate modem & router to a combination modem/router. At twenty ($20) bucks, you can't beat the price for this item, heck a new router alone costs ~$50.
