All connected AuraGrid Antennas operate on the same channel
Maximize wireless signal strength and throughput in every room

Description:
Does your wireless network limit you to certain areas in your home? Get rid of wireless dead spots using your existing cable lines with the AuraGrid Home Network Extension Kit, which distributes 802.11b and 802.11g signals over standard coaxial cables. Setup takes just minutes, and once connected, you'll enjoy faster file transfers and eliminated interference. An IEEE 802.11b/g wireless access point or router with detachable antenna and SMA connector are required and sold separately (RPTNC-to-SMA adapter now available here.) The AuraGrid Home Network Extension Kit's 4-way duplexer/splitter screws easily into your cable line where it enters the home. The same wiring that sends cable TV to the rooms in your home will distribute wireless RF signals, as well. Use one of the included extension units to connect your router to the AuraGrid, and wire the additional extensions into the cable entry point of the rooms to be connected. Each comes with an antenna: Rooms that are equipped with an AuraGrid antenna will enjoy maximum wireless signal strength as well as data throughput without interrupting cable TV/Internet services. Each AuraGrid room antenna operates like a separate wireless access point. Three are included with the AuraGrid Home Network Extension Kit, but additional antennas are sold separately, so you'll be able to connect as many as you need to have wireless access in every area of your home or business. All connected AuraGrid antennas operate on the same channel, so you won't have any channel conflicts.

I like this one, but..........., March 20, 2006
By Tech Head (Portland, Oregon)
This product did not increase the strength of my WAP, but it did allow me to reach the signal from my office to bedroom (was not possible before). The signal was very weak (1-2 bars) but this was still better than it was w/o the auragrid. I ended up buying the Hawkings signal booster [...]thinking it may solve the problem by itself. However, my WAP and Hawkings booster alone did not reach into my bedroom at all. It wasn't until I connected my WAP to the Hawkings and then to the auragrid did this product really work. I could sustain a good 3 bars at 100 feet of cable from the duplexer unit!

I think the auragrid product is a great solution pending you have a powerful enough WAP to push the signal throughout the coax in your home. If not, you may need to purchase a bi-directional signal booster like I did.

Overall the product works as advertised PENDING YOU HAVE A POWERFUL ENOUGH WAP or a signal booster. If the company was able to bundle this product with WAPs that are powerful enough to provide signals throughout the 4 ports on the duplexer unit or at least recommend a WAP I would give the 5 stars. That being said, I still like the product so I give it 4 stars!

I just installed this product, read many of the mixed reviews. While I did not see an "increase" in signal strength in areas that were previously covered with my Linksys Wireless Router, I did see a huge difference in areas that were unable to connect or received a weak signal. I now have adequate coverage in all corners of my home! It was easy to install, tech support was quick to send me a TNC connector for my router, and I am now completely wireless!

    mediocre speed, March 9, 2006

I purchased the aura grid because 1) I wouldn't have to have a wireless receiver sitting on a shelf close to my computer, and 2) thought I would get better speed with the antenna within 3 feet of the computer. Speed on the internet has slowed to the point that I'll probably remove the item and put the receiver back on the shelf.

Nice gadget, great tech support., March 1, 2006

This is a nice piece of workmanship, well packaged, good quality. BUT be advised, in order for this device to work properly, all the cables that run from the four-way duplexer to the remote antennas need to be in one piece, that is, you cannot have splitters nor barrels. If you need help, the tech support from AuraOne (the company that makes this item) is great. Just for that, I gave them 5 starts.

Works great for me!, February 21, 2006

I bought the AuraGrid to get wireless signal in a room that was not getting any signal. When I first tried to set it up, it didn't seem to work. After some troubleshooting, I realized that I didn't connect the WiFi cable into "Room 1" on the splitter. One I fixed this, I got a signal, the deadspot was gone!

This product is a good alternative to buying and configuring another access point.

Works but not better than directional antennas in my house, February 12, 2006
By Endzone (Michigan)
There are many hurdles in using this system. First your wireless router needs to have removable antennas. Second you may need a special connector to connect it to your wireless router. Auragrid uses an RT-SMA connector like many routers but some routers such as mine (a linksys) use RT-TNC and I think D-Link uses another. Third you need to get access to your cable splitter box from the wireless router without interving splitters which could be a problem in some houses. Fourth there may be large losses due to long cable runs or if the wiring is not in top shapes (I think that was one of my problems). I bought this system because I was having trouble getting signals to upper floors of my house. In the end directional antennas connected directly to the wireless router worked better than this system in my wood house. The tiny antennas on the individual cable terminators are not very powerful. This system would be useful if you have a room you cannot reach with directional wireless antennas because of metal or brick walls but you have a cable outlet. The system works but is suited for special situations.

    Awesome Product!, December 19, 2005

Pros - This product not only removes dead spots, it literally walks around interferences!

Cons - Figuring out which cable led to what room in order to properly install it.

This product resolved all my dead spot issues! I live in a 2 story home and my SuperG Netgear Wireless Router just wasn't cutting it. My only other option was to buy an additional AP which meant additional configurations and confusion. I am by no means a "tech person". This product solved everything! The best part about it is that I don't have to configure anything!
