excellent little router. I bought it because it was small, and simple. I had no problems connecting it, setting it up, and using it in under 5 minutes.

The Belkin ME1004-r Wireless router was pretty easy to install I had a little troube getting my computer to recognize a connection with the router, but after a little tweaking I got it to work. After a few days the router disconnected itself somehow and now I cannot get it to reconnect, at this point I would say that this router sucks monkey toes.

No problems from start to usage, April 28, 2008
By J. Butler (Atlanta, GA USA)
This is my first wireless router that I have ever bought/installed. The directions could not have been simpler: they are both written in a fold-out manual and are demonstrated in the included CD-ROM.

The only slight problem I had was that I had forgotten to set my computer's LAN adaptor to "Enabled," and the directions mention to check this. Once I turned on the link in my computer I breezed straight through the rest of the setup.

The router now sits in my closet, out of sight, out of mind. I have a connection all over my house and have yet to have any problems with connection or signal strength.

Especially considering the price, this router does a fine job and I am very happy with my purchase.

This router is very easy to install. I had trouble with Windows Vista, but customer service was helpful and there was no wait. I don't know how quick it is compared to others, but I'm not a techy and it seems fine to me.

It was less expensive than the routers at my local computer store...very happy with my purchase.

The router was fine for the wireless. The performance for the ethernet cable was not as good as the wireless. The security (WPA) was easy to implement and works well.

The is my second wireless router, and it is relatively smaller than my previous one, a Linksys. Its (Belkin) rough dimensions are 5in x 5in x 1in. It came with couple of side "fixtures" that allows me to let it stand on its side to save space. Setting up was pretty easy after following the instructions that came with it. It says that it wasn't created for Vista and to follow the manual's instruction before installing or setting up, hmmm. I never installed anything, just plugged my modem to the little belkin, and Voil ... instant connection using my wireless adapter on my desktop. Adjusted a couple of settings online and here I am still connected. Well, I have been using this product, for a little under a month now and I have to say it has not given me any problem(s) yet (knocks on wood). So basically, I'm satisfied with this product so far.

Easy setup, works great with Mac, April 4, 2008
By myoho guy (Northern California USA)
I was looking for a compact wireless router for my small (600 sq.ft.) apartment. From out of the box to being on the web took less than 10 minutes. After being guided by a few easy steps from the installation CD, my Powerbook was connected and I was able to get a strong signal even if I went into the other room from where the unit was plugged in.
It is, as another reviewer noted, smaller than it appears in the photo and you have the option of standing it on it's side, which further reduces it's footprint.
I would recommend this to anyone with a small apartment or condo who wants wireless connectivity without bells and whistles, and wants a simple design style that blends in with a small space.

Easy Peasy Wifi Breezy, March 19, 2008
By Borg Cube (Trinidad and Tobago)
This has to be one of the easiest routers I've ever set up; not a peep of an issue. It's smaller than the pic lets on as well.

Further to this, I was initially concerned with the positioning of the router and the wireless client PC...they were separated by about 25 feet of walking length from one room, down a hallway to a common room, with 2 doors and 3 walls to possibly interrupt the signal. Only a minor signal strength drop occured with the doors closed, but the connectivity continued uninterrupted. Good job Belkin.

Easy set up but range goes after about 3 months, March 19, 2008
By L. Ogle
I bought this to replace a linksys router (with two antennae). I was very surprised at how easy this was to setup, much easier than the Linksys! Wireless was incredibly easy. I only had to add in the key that it generated to my laptop and instant connection to the network!

I find that the wireless range is surprisingly good, especially considering it uses only one antenna. The signal is strong enough to go 28' through two cement-filled, concrete/cinder block walls with steel. My laptop registers the signal strength as Very low, but I can surf the net and upload/download files at the same speed that I used to get with my Linksys.

UPDATE - downgrade to 2.5 stars.
My router suddenly lost its wireless range after about 2 months. I reset the router and it didn't solve the problem. I ended up having to buy a wireless USB adapter with a long USB cable to connect to my laptop, longer cat 5e cables so that the router could be moved to a spot that had an almost direct line of sight with my USB adapter to get wireless access!

great for the money and prob. in general, March 16, 2008

Totally does the job. Worked w/ more expensive routers in the past, but I don't have thaT MUCH EXPERIENCE. If I had to base it all on this one, I've got no problems to report.

Wireless hard to hook up, March 4, 2008
By osfans (NY)
It took me about 3hrw with a bunch of guys from India to hook this up. It does work fine now.

Well, At the Very Least it Works, February 9, 2008
By shadow (Nashville, TN United States)
It was advertised as easy to install, and usable right out the box, but after plugging everything in and not being able to connect to the internet using my laptop, the ease kind of just flew out the window. I spent almost 3 hours on the phone with people from India who I could barely understand, and who clearly didn't care whether my product worked or not. To make a long story short, I finally got the router to work, and it's been working fine for the past month or so (knock on wood).

So, the router is great and works fine. Hopefully you know how to set up your router by yourself because if you don't then you'll probably have to deal with some really unfriendly people.

Great router for cheap price!, January 25, 2008
By R. Moy (Boston, MA)
This router has everything. I am using this as a wireless bridge to extend my wireless coverage to downstairs in my old house which doesn't have wireless friendly walls and floors.

It has WPA/WEP protection. 4 port 10/100 switch. Great web interface. Nice and small. Has MAC filtering. Wireless bridging of course. MAC filtering for wireless bridging. Have this bridged to a D-Link DI-634M.

No cons whatsoever that I see!

    Fantastic product!, December 6, 2007
By M. Young
The setup for this router could not have been easier. It is laid out in plain language and takes about 3 minutes total. I have a fantastic signal in my entire apartment, really really fast internet for it being wireless, and I have never had a problem with losing the signal.

    Good product, July 16, 2007
By Jason Simmons
The router is a good wireless product for being just a g and not a super g or n. The signal strength extends for a decent distance 40-50 ft but is inconsistent @ times. Make sure not to have other wireless(phones) or electronic devices near the usb adpater.
