It Works....Now!, February 14, 2008
By Galaxieman (Florida, USA)
Yes, it works just fine....now.
It installed easily and connected various computers to the Internet just fine. I used it for a few days before I noticed that it actually had a problem. Access to email and the Internet worked just fine but when large files were being transferred the router would just stop transferring. If I tried to view a large YouTube video it would transfer about 1 to 2 megabytes and then stop transferring. When I tried to download large files (larger than about 2 Mbytes) it would also freeze up after a megabyte or so.
I ran all kinds of tests to be sure that the problem existed only when using the Belkin router. That was the case. I then contacted Belkin technical support. They were very helpful, although the person who talked to me seemed 'foreign' or was working from a tight script. Anyway, when they understood my problem the tech support person talked me through a firmware update for the router. It was pretty simple. And, since then router has worked flawlessly!
So, get one, it works, but you better upgrade the firmware before any serious use....

Good but not the greatest, February 11, 2008

It is a good router. It has some useful features but they are not that great. I recommend buying it when it is on sale.

Complicated set-up for mac users, February 9, 2008
By Dina Fainberg (New Brunswick, NJ, US)
Very troublesome to install on Mac. the security features involve unnecessary complications as well. keeps logging of the net and disconnects every once in a while

Good product, February 6, 2008
By Youssef Aoun (Beyrouth, LIBAN)
This product is great for four reasons: - It's price is lower then other product on the market - It's size is small compared to other products - It does the job pretty well! I am using it as a Wired Switch and as a Wireless router using WEP 128. No disconnections - For Open Source lovers, this machine is supported by OpenWRT. So you can have fun with it!

Great For A Basic Router, February 5, 2008
By George R. Bennett
I had a friend buy this router to replace their Microsoft router that would drop the connection once or twice a day. Just plugged the Belkin in and it worked...couldn't be more simpler than that. It's been running for a month now and so far has not dropped the connection. Wirelessly, it works well, better than the old microsoft router. I did not enable security as their house is in the middle of the 65 acres that they have, so can't comment on the security issue that was reported here.

Constant Disconnection, January 28, 2008
By unknown
I bought this because it was the cheapest router at the store. I guess you get what you pay for. It works pretty well if you use it just for websurfing, ie. checking email and random websites. But this router is horrible for streaming videos and downloading. Whenever I try to watch a video off of youtube, it would load maybe 30 seconds to a minute and then the connection just pauses (I can tell this because the wireless icon on my laptop stops lighting up), and it won't reconnect again to finish downloading the streaming video. It's like the router would decide to take a breather and forget to finish it's job. This also happens when I try to upload or download files from email or websites. It would download for a minute and just stop midway. Finally, I got so fed up with it that I unplugged the cable from the router and just downloaded whatever I needed through the cable. I'm going to have to buy a linksys now, because I just can't stand these pauses anymore! Stay away from Belkin! Linksys's have never failed me yet...

Not Vista Friendly, January 27, 2008
By K. Hill
Not only does Belkin not provide a Vista patch, I have more difficulty with the router than I'd ever imagine. It often drops my connection, which is only remedied by resetting the router. I'm also not able to set up a secure connection and am left open to others connecting without my permission. Would I recommend this product? Not for vista users planning on a wireless connection. It works fine for my desktop using a cable, but what's the point of going wireless if you need to manually connect for a steady connection?

Works with Vista, January 26, 2008
By Mrs. D (Long Island, NY USA)
It was a little tricky to set up with Windows Vista (couldn't use the installation cd that came with the router) it had to be configured manually. I was able to set up and secure a wireless network in about 10 minutes. Have been using it for about 3 weeks with no problems at all.

Never Buy product, January 25, 2008
By Review to help (USA)
The worst product I have ever bought. It never worked. It could not pick the interenet connection for more than 5 seconds. This was the case when it was wired with just one laptop and soon after the installation was completed. I tried getting it resolved by calling the technical support for Belkin but as expected they were of no use. They directed me to talk to my internet service provider. I just kept shutting between Belkin support and internet provider with absolutely no success in getting the router work. I will never recommend it to anybody. It is just a wastage of money.

Easy to use and reliable, January 19, 2008
By BuckeyeDoc (USA)
I have owned this router for over 1 year and it has never let me down. It is a breeze to set-up and works well with my VoIP system. The only drawback is its limited range but you would not notice this in an apartment or condo. Only when I moved into a single family home did I notice a drop in signal strength on the second floor. I tested it on a Gateway Vista desktop and set-up program ran with no problems. I have owned 2 Belkin routers and highly recommend them for their ease of use, lifetime warranty, and reliability.

They have the worst technical support! Avoid at all cost and you save a lot of aggravation on the phone.

Belkin Wireless Router FSD7230-4, January 12, 2008
By Benjamin J. Wiker
I had a little trouble getting the wireless internet to work, but Belkin customer service was extremely helpful in helping to solve the problem. The router has not given me any trouble since and the wireless signal is strong enough for use anywhere in a normal sized house.

good little router, January 6, 2008
By M. Minges (Concord, CA)
I bought this router to replace a linksys with lockup issues,I was a little worried about signal strength(it only has the one antenna), I placed the router in the back of the house, and found that it has surprisingly good signal strength, I found the setup was a little tricky, but once correctly configured, it works perfectly

Firewall issues on a Macintosh, January 6, 2008
By Allison Nowak (Santa Cruz, CA United States)
I am not a computer whiz, and I have only a surface understanding of all the wireless and networking terms involved with one of these devices. I use a Mac laptop.
What I do know, is that ever since I installed this product, though my web-browser is working, certain other applications are not working properly, telling me that they are firewalled. If I remove the router from the set-up and go back to where I was before (Cable Modem directly wired to my computer), I have no issues.
The Belkin Tech Support has been very unfriendly and unhelpful to me. I have called three times and they refuse to help me disable the router's firewall, for my own protection they say.
They also insist that I use Internet Explorer or Safari when accessing their internet setup utility. I use Firefox and have long ago erased the other browsers from my computer. They say unless I use one of their preferred browsers, they won't help me.
Overall, it has been very difficult to get this product to work the way I would like it to. If all you do is read webpages, or if you are an internet guru who knows how to manipulate these things yourself, you should be fine; If you are a mid-level user like myself, who uses many applications that access the internet besides a web-browser, but needs some support if they aren't co-operating properly, then I do not recommend this product or this company.
