EXCELLENT WIRELESS ROUTER, July 9, 2006
By WILLIAM (PA)
Well, I can only speak for myself, but after reading many negative reviews, I bought this router anyway, and am glad I did!!! I don't know where some reviewers are getting the idea this was a cable modem?? Anyway, install went flawlessly, and I have this up and running for about a week now, with no disconnects of any kind.. One computer wired, the other wireless.. At first I skipped the wireless security, but later secured the wireless, and was surprised to gain more signal strength.. Be sure to secure the wireless, or anyone could log on, and use ur signal. At about 30 ft. I had very good signal, before I secured, and after, it jumped to excellent!! I think the people having problems with this, probably have other computer issues, causing the install, and performance issues.. Such as poor computer maintenance, many programs running during install?? So from my experience, and for 39.99, I would recommend this wireless router!! Actually, I was very surprised, at how well it works, especially the wireless signal, and range....

it's the pits, July 7, 2006
By Mr. Chris Jones
This piece of kit has wasted me money and time, lots of time. It will not hold a telephone line. It might do for a couple of days and then it will not consistently. Belkin support is useless I am after a refund. I suspect it might be noise on the line. my old netgear went on for 3 years solid so i would hope this new one would

Totally compatible with Mac OS 10.4.6, July 4, 2006
By Juan Salguero (Caracas, Venezuela)
Sadly, after a "home incident", my belkin router fell to the ground, and was broken, so it stopped working after 2 years..
I must say that during all these time, the router worked perfectly with my Ibook G4 1.33 Mhz, , my Cube G4, and my brother's MacBookPro
Setup was very easy. Well, it failed when I used the CD for the auto setup, but when I followed the steps for manual setup found on the website, everything went right.
I read some reviews of people givind bad reviews to the router (not this one, but routers from different brands), saying that the routerw can't handle bit torrent traffic. I had this problem at the beginning, and then I read on the internet about port forwarding, and using static IP when using routers. I did all the necessary steps, and then this router worked great, handling large downloads from BitTorrent
Wireless signal was powerful. I got a router better than I expected. Now, being an Apple user, I just got an Airport Extreme, and hope it works as good as my Belkin router did. I was a happy user for 2 years.

Better than Netgear and Dlink, June 26, 2006
By CH@113NG3 3V3RYTH1NG
I have been using belkin routers for almost 5 years now. my first router was a dlink, what a waste of money and time, second one was netgear 11g and the thoughts about that one are not much different from the dlink. as far as belkin goes, hands down the best router ever. first of all you dont have to be a network genius to hook this one up. as long as you can read and follow directions you will be alright. it took me literally 5 minutes to hook this router up. everything is plain and simple. i had to hook up a friends netgear rangemax the other day and believe me i was ready to pull my hair out. in the same room my friends laptop was unable to connect to the router. i took my belkin there, hooked it up and walla full bandwidth in no time. i likes belkin so much that i replaced my belkin 11g (the one above) with a new belkin mimo. not that i needed the upgraded its just that i wanted to. :) trust me if you want a router free of trouble buy this and you will be happy.

this thing will ruin your weekend, June 25, 2006
By maddog (New Mexico)
Buy this router if:
a. You are a network engineer
b. You wrote the setup software
c. You plan on being lucky
d. Your life is so dismal that a weekend spent chatting with the nice ladies in Hyderabad is the best you can hope for!

Frequent Lost Connections, June 6, 2006
By Jon Guild (Massachusetts, USA)
I've had this router for about six months, and about every other day, the router loses its connection, changing its flashing green lights to solid amber. I contacted Belkin, and they instructed me to update the firmware, which makes sense. But that didn't improve the problem at all. So to get the router working again, I pull its power brick from the wall, wait a few seconds, and plug it back. And it works for another day or two. This is a very frustrating experience.
On the plus side, in my house of about 3,000 square feet, I generally have good reception.

Typical low cost junk, June 2, 2006
By S. Shanahan (Eugene, Or)
Firstly, while my model number is the same, I don't have the 2nd antenna. It works, but decently at best. Frequently drops the conenction while I'm in the middle of something. I also now need to reboot my cable modem every few days. Range is laughably bad. Move 10 feet, it drops in half. I can work in the bedroom, about 25 feet away, at the lowest connection speed. Back yard, ferget it. I am using the Belkin wireless adapter that supposedly goes with it, either both or one is garbage. Configuration interface is fine, nothing great, not really geared for computer-phobes, but nothing terrible. I would say spend the extra bucks and get something better, this is a pretty frustrating piece of junk.

Great product, Horrible customer service., June 2, 2006
By Genius (Philly)
Router works very well. I had a few problems setting it up the first time. I called customer service and got some representative with a thick accent (outsourced to India, I assume). I basically spent an hour and a half on the phone with customer service repeating myself, being placed on hold, and asking her to repeat herself. After all of that, I still didn't get the problem solved. I eventually worked it out myself. I give it four stars instead of five because of this.

Simple and Awesome, June 2, 2006
By CH@113NG3 3V3RYTH1NG
i have used dlink, netgear and the linksys but belkin tops them all. its simply PnP. no need to do all of the setup unless you really want to. dlink was good but their customer service was as bad as one can imagine. belkin got lifetime warranty and life time customer support. i had it installed in my basment and i was able to get a "good" or "very good" signal in my bedroom on the second floor.

Very pleased with this product, good for starters., May 4, 2006
By olivermd
This is my first attempt at wireless networking, I chose this product because of the cost... got it on sale at Staples for $[...] after $[...] rebate.
The setup instructions were simple and the router was easy to install, it worked instantly with my laptop using SBC Yahoo DSL. I just had to call Belkin customer support to set up the security settings and they were very helpful.
It's also small enough to take along on trips, it worked well in a hotel room during a recent trip. Will serve as a 'travel router' until you can shell out $[...] for a portable one.

Don't even bother if you want reliable wireless., May 3, 2006
By Daniel T. Olive (U.S.A.)
I had this wireless router for several months and had nonstop connection problems. At least once or twice a night my laptop would get disconnected, and the only way to get things working again was to pull the power on the router and reset it. I finally replaced it with an equivalent product from D-Link. The new router is in the exact same location and not only is the average signal strength slightly higher, but I have yet to be disconnected. Save yourself the hassel and get a better product from another manufacturer.

Works great - even at far distance, December 19, 2005
By Amrodam (Northern Virginia)
I just bought this item and it seems to work great. I have one computer connected over wire and two wireless. Both work great. The wireless works at further distances than the linksys I owned and just dumped. Setup was easy (except that the default SSID described in the manual isn't the same one that was configured - but this was easy to figure out). I have 64bit WEP enabled and have no problems. I also like that it has the parental control feature (although I have not yet tested that).

Works fine for me, and you can't beat the price!, December 10, 2005
By megabeilin (MD USA)
Don't be fooled by the negative reviews. As long as you follow the very simple instructions, there's nothing to the installation, and it works fine. One of the reviews commented on the difficulty in setting up WEP or WPA security. Nonsense! All you need to do is take two minutes to read the relevant chapter in the very detailed electronic manual, in Adobe Acrobat format on the CD-ROM installation disk. You have to access the router settings via Internet Explorer, and if you use WEP, you generate a passcode and then set the same code on your other computers. If you've never done that before, it may seem a little frustrating, but the fault lies not with Belkin but rather with Microsoft's Windows XP. So long as you know how to configure a wireless networking adapter on Windows XP, the Belkin components -- routers or adapters -- perform flawlessly. As a budget minded consumer, I'm thankful that Belkin makes such competitively priced networking products.

Problems At First But Its Working Great Now, November 23, 2005
By Noel (Yokohama, Japan)
I had the same problems what I read in the other reviews, connection dropping. But I figured it out on my system. I have a Windows XP Pro that monitored the connection. When I disabled that figure and let my modem handle its connection, it was working fine. I leave my computer alone for hours and still have a connection or even when I turn on my computer, it automatically connects. The problem is not the router but the windows program that handles the connection.

Garbage, November 21, 2005
By Anonymous (New York, NY)
The wireless connection constantly fails at random times, and then I would just have to wait it out until it felt like letting me connect again. Using windows "repair" wireless connection function didn't help. I did have security enabled, and another reviewer said it works better without security. But I live in an urban area, and don't want to use wireless without security so this router is worthless to me. This thing is literally garbage now since I threw it out.

Crap, November 7, 2005
By Jon (Seattle, Washington)
Wow, Belkin is terrible. I have a Belkin Router and Modem, and both suck, big time. Every day, the connection fails. Whether I'm surfing the net or in the middle of an AIM conversation. Then I have to reconnect the modem, and re-install the router. It takes several minutes. And get this, it disconnected in the middle of writing this review. But it gets annyoing when you have to do it twice a day. Skip this one.

Very poor router Belkin F6D3230-4 wireless A+G router, November 6, 2005
By Matthew Pinto
I have the Belkin F6D3230-4 wireless A+G router. This is an extremely poorly designed router. I purchased it because it was suppose to be Mac Compatible; however, the configuration HTTP doesn't work on any web browser but Interent Explorer (which by the way is no longer availble for the mac. Microsoft has dropped IE). The DHCP server randomly stops working and nothing but a factory reset will correct it. The "Reload" config doesn't work; therefore, after I have to factory reset to get the DHCP working I can't even reload my previous configuration, I have to manually re-enter everything! The customer service was of no help at all. I purchased this direct from Belkin but they still have not helped with me returning this terrible unit!

Drops out, Port Forwarding NO Good, October 26, 2005
By H Marcuse (Wollongong NSW Australia)
Not sure if this is exactly the same product: Our purchase: Belkin F6D3230-4 wireless A+G router: the port 80 pass through does Not work we cannot see our web server from outside the LAN Previous router (non wireless Navini) worked fine. Internal Lan can see the web server Direct connect of Server to ISP enables world to see our web server So it seems the Belkin "virtual server" is faulty
With WEP I connect OK but my manager, about 8 metres away, drops out. With no WEP all are on OK. Reboot of router required about once per day.
