Latest version C1 does not work with Mac, October 24, 2006
By Flipped4Macs
I got this adapter so I could use it with my new bluetooth phone. Unfortunately, they sent me the newest version of the adapter, C1, and it does not currently work with OS X version 10.4.8 or earlier. Bluetooth Updater 1.5 will not fix this also. The new version has different graphics, which is orange on black. Earlier A and B versions have the white on green graphic, and will work with Mac OS X.

Works fine on my Mac, August 31, 2006
By Neil B. Carlberg (Bellingham, WA USA)
I wish I would have ordered my Mac with the Bluetooth installed. This is the next best thing. Works great with my Wireless Mighty Mouse.

I use the D-Link with my iMac to link with my desk top and I just love it. It is very easy to use and works great every time.

Nice little dongle., July 19, 2006
By J. Sanderson (Midwest, USA)
I have the revision 5. Works just as good as any other BT dongle only I think they have better tech support than the others. I had trouble connecting my PDA via BT to my main computer and went to D-Link's site only to find they had updated drivers.
It wasn't really D-Link's fault that the current drivers weren't working, it was Windows XP's fault. Anyway, they gave me a download link and very good instructions on how do re-install D-Link's drivers and how to get the device to looks for those particular drivers instead of Windows generic BT drivers.

Hard to install, old drivers, but works once installed, July 16, 2006
By Consumer
I purchased this to use my Treo 650 (Cingular) for email and internet access for my laptop. The installation was a complete nightmare, the drivers are old and the the documentation on the website seems complete, but the connector still does not install right when following them. It all stems from windows XP installing drivers without allowing the device drivers that come with the adapter to be loaded.
Once I did get it installed, it works great, no problems.
I would probably get the Belken USB Bluetooth adapter. If you are using it for the same reason I am, Cingular even has install instructions on its site to set up the wireless functionality.

great product, July 14, 2006
By Rka (Honolulu, HI USA)
This bluetooth adapter works just great and has a reasonable price. Basic, good product that does what the manufacturers claim it would do (and very simple to install and use). I am completely satisfied with its performance.

works some of the time with Macs,/windows, July 12, 2006
By bigoil (houston)
This is the particular bluetooth adapter that Apple recommends. And it works about just as well with Macs as it does with PC's, which in my case is not so well. I have motorola phones that work seamlessly with my mini-macs with built in bluetooth, but the same phones using the same software do not work well at all using the external DBT-120 adapter on a G5/Thinkpad/whitebox PC, in fact I returned it due to its poor performance. It may be the motorola phones are a bit tricky, but there is no point in having an adapter that doesn't work for its intended purpose.

Not compatible with Microsoft ActiveSync, July 12, 2006
By Russian Texan (Houston, TX)
This product is not compatible with Microsoft ActiveSync - It installs a Bluetooth connection at COM port 40 or above. ActiveSync does not search above COM20.

Touchy install, but works great, July 8, 2006
By Sean Leary (Olathe, KS)
The install of this adapter was a unusually complicated, but once you get past the install it works great. I bought it to replace the Microsoft adapter that came with my keyboard and mouse after it died. The D-Link adapter works better than the one Microsoft provided. No problems since the install.

Buy something else instead, this adapter is very bad, July 6, 2006
By Stuart H. Stock
This device requires you to "register" your adapter to receive a "security code" before you can install the driver. If you lose the code, you have to go to a third-part site to re-register the driver and get a new code...that is unless the website refuses to issue a new one because the adapter you own is "already registered."
Save yourself the trouble and get a different BT adapter that doesn't make you jump through these hoops.

Good bluetooth adapter, July 5, 2006
By J. Cyr (Maine)
The installation of the drivers required me to manually disable the microsoft drivers, then tell Windows XP to search for the correct drivers on the CD that came with this device. But that's a Microsoft problem and not a DLink problem. I was able to find a solution to the problem by searching google. This device works great for file transfers and other services with my motorola razr v3c from us cellular without any other software, by using the widcomm drivers that come with this device.

This is the one for your Mac, June 29, 2006
By M. L. Goodson (Davis, CA United States)
If you have an older Mac that didn't come with Bluetooth. This is the one to get. Apples firmware update will update it, and it will then support headsets (for Skype, etc). Other adapters work with Mac--I bought an IOGear, but the flat don't support headsets, so if that's an issue, be advised. Here's also a tip on updating the firmware...
I have a Rev B4 DBT-120 that I am using on my iBook G3 with 10.4.6 to connect a Motorola HS820 headset for Skype. [...]
Like other people, I hav had several failed attempts at the update. I read that you need to have all other USB devices removed (and the DBT-120) plugged directly into the port on the iBook. I unplugged the hub with mouse and scanner on it and it worked first time after that. I did not reapply the 10.4.6 combo updater, but this also is said to work. This could be anecdotal, but I thought I would mention it.

junk, June 26, 2006
By Mike (NJ)
wouldn't work with built in winxp drivers, requires you to load bloatware to run. Even after loading the bloat couldn't get win xp to recognize the device- the drivers are dicey. Called support and they were worthless. Guy said something akin to "gee that shouldn't happen" and decided the device must be faulty.

Does not Support Headsets, June 19, 2006
By Philip Evans (Boston, MA USA)
Contrary to the manufacturer's assertion above, this device does NOT support a wireless headset. I bought it for that specific purpose. When you install, it simply tells you this function is not supported. I am sure there are all sort of good technological reasons why this is the case, but a bit of explicitness on the part of the manufacturer would have been helpful, not to mention honest.

Piece of Junk, June 4, 2006
By Joseph A. Cristofalo (San Francisco Ca)
Don't waste your time and money on this piece of junk! I tried to install the software 5 times...because I couldn't get it to work. I called customer service...after waiting for more than 30 minutes for them to answer the call, they couldn't get it to work either. The customer service person, then said that there was one more thing we could try...and the call was disconnected. I called back and waited for more than an hour...before hanging up in disgust. The bottom line? A piece of junk, with non-existant customer support!

No Bluetooth Headset support for OS X, May 22, 2006

Works well with sync for cell for both PC and Mac. Wanted to use Skype with MAC laptop. Bummer no headset support.

I wouln't recommend it, May 21, 2006
By D. Taylor (USA)
I just got the B4 version of this and tried to install it in Win98 SE. The install seemed to go ok altho a little slow. But when I tried to reboot I could never get back into windows, only safe mode. And it would hang at the win98 splash screen for several minutes before I could even get there. I finally uninstalled it in safe mode, restored my registry and was able to get back into windows. It has been of no use to me what so ever.

It works fine but won't install without hassle, May 12, 2006
By Anthony Martina (Aruba)
I recieved this product and it looks good. But I went to install it on my Toshiba Laptop, and it said that a license is missing so I had to go to their website and search for this problem. When I got the problem solver it wasn't that easy, if your not good with computers, don't buy this, otherwise it's cool once you install it.
