Total ripoff, defective junk!, August 8, 2008
By A. Fortier (USA)
It drops packets on wired connections, it has worse range than my BELKIN, and encryption on this joke of a router slows traffic down to 4MBPS! Total ripoff, defective junk!
I have had enough of these wireless routers, every one of them is no good. From D-Link to Linksys up and on down the line, THEY ARE ALL CHEAP PIECES OF JUNK!!!
I thought I had it bad with this BELKIN, but at least it has solid wired connections!

Easy setup and outstanding performance, August 5, 2008
By J. Reid Linker Jr. (Durham, NC USA)
I bought this as a replacement for my DI-624, another quality D-Link product that lasted me almost 6 years (I had it running/downloading 24/7 and the wireless chipset began to give out; usually routers only last 2-3 years with heavy use like that). This is one quality upgrade...
For starters, the DGL-4300 has a high-quality (not sure if it is high-gain or not) antenna out of the box which immediately gave me a better signal throughout my home. The Admin interface is easy to use and has many more features than its predecessors. Be warned though: this is a "gaming" router, and all of the Admin function revolve around this principle, with port profiles for many popular games.
It does not have to be used exclusively for gaming, so don't be turned off with all of the jargon! The GameFuel technology it boasts is simply a fancy way of saying "bandwidth prioritization," and can be used for *anything* including VoIP services (so your call quality can be clearer). However, I am a gamer and used it "as advertised" for my X-box Live connection and instantly began to see better performance through online play, even when my wife was downloading music on her PC!
Security is easy to setup, with the option of 128-bit WEP and WPA methods, as well as MAC filtering (in order for any device to access your signal, they would need to have its unique MAC address stored on the device). Bottom line: no one will be accessing your signal without your permission!
All-in-all, this is a great upgrade for anyone with an older wireless router, and probably the best starter router anyone could get without new 802.11n technology. I highly recommend it as well as any other D-Link product.

Fantastic bang for buck., July 30, 2008
By Dr.Rick (Chicago, IL USA)
I've had this router for about a year now and have had much success with it. I therefore feel I can provide a fair review.
Pros: -Large feature set -Easy to configure in Basic mode -Great advanced features for advanced users -GameFuel priority routing is handy and noticeable in practice -Gigabit LAN is great for hard-wired connections -Solid security feature set; very highly configurable -Easy to manage security exemptions, etc. should you choose to use them -Refined firmware is a huge plus -This product just managed to edge out LinkSys in my opinion
Cons: -Actual D-Link support isn't great, but there is a wealth of information on the internet, so this really isn't a problem. -The painted finish got all gooey when someone tried to clean the thing with glass cleaner.
Overall: Fantastic bang for the buck. Greatly increase wireless signal strength and quality with an upgraded antenna (i.e. D-Link ANT24-0700). With the rebate, it's tough to beat!

Great for PS3 - Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii, July 21, 2008
By Me, myself and I (CA)
I'm writting this review because I read some of the others before I bought this Router, I noticed most people mentioned the PS3 and Xbox 360 worked fine with this router but couldn't find any reffering to the Nintendo Wii, so I bought it at Fry's and hoped it would work!
I got home and followed the "quick install guide" included in the package (plus instructions in the gaming systems) and I was done with the complete setup in about 30 minutes (it took me a while to figure out how to secure the signal)
All I can say is that I scored with this router!
This is my setup...
ROUTER IS IN MY ROOM Xbox 360 - Wired (In my room) PC - Wired (In my room) PS3 - Wireless (In the living room) Nintendo Wii - Wireless (In my kids room)
I am now playing Halo 3 on Xbox live (took a break to write this review) my younger son is downloading Wii software updates and my older son is playing Metal Gear Solid 4 online and everything is working great!
The only reason why I gave it four stars instead of five is because I could not find any direct instructions on how to secure the signal, got help from Yahoo Answers.

D-Link DGL 4300 Wireless Router, July 11, 2008
By Chenzo (Torrance, CA. USA)
I bought this to replace my 6 year old Linksys Wireless B router which finally stopped broadcasting. The D-link was recommended by the tech guys at our company. I had no problem installing it, which was a tremendous difference from my Linksys B and another Linksys G router I use elsewhere (not for long). Setting up WEP security was simple and our laptops in the house picked up the signal quickly. We have only used it about a month, but it seems quite good. One house member says it's a bit slow in his room, but the rest of us are happy.

One Of The Best Routers Out There!, July 10, 2008
By T. Hurd
The DGL-4300 has to be one of the best routers on the market. This router has it all and with the $25.00 rebate it's a total no brainer. Gigabit, 108g, and GameFuel really make a HUGE difference. I'd definitely say that GameFuel is the best feature. No more problems d/ling a few things while playing a game. No more annoyling lag if a family member is downloading something. In fact this handles multiple games being played at once. I have 5 computers hooked up to mine and all have ZERO issues with this router. 3 Dells and 2 home grown I built.. All the Dell's are wireless and the 2 I built utilize the Gigabit ports. All work flawlessly and the range on the wireless is perfect at any corner in the house. I liked this router so much I purchased one for my parents to replace their ancient D-Link DL-614+.
Why not 5 stars?
D-Link stopped supporting Firmware 1.8. I updated from 1.7 to 1.8 anyway because it resolves log error issues with my Dell laptop's Intel 3945ABG wireless card. The upgrade went flawlessly I might add.

Easy to use, July 1, 2008
By VM
I read some reviews where people said it took hours to get this thing working. It took me literally 1 minute to get it working. As long as you have basic computer knowledge this thing is easy to use. It works great, I am very happy with it.

Intermediate Knowledge to setup, May 27, 2008
By outlawstar100
This SOHO router is fast and reliable. There are many advanced settings to do interesting things and the NAT tables have extra space on them. I suggest having an experienced network administrator setup the more advanced functions for you as Tech support will only communicate with you thru email. The Game Fuel feature also supports VIOP nicely.

A Great Router That Does What Its Suppose To Do, May 14, 2008
By Talon1107 (Thompsons Station, TN)
I had no problem setting up the router. I plugged it in, powered it up and I connected to the Internet with no problems. My 2 Xbox 360s are running great along with my PCs and laptops. The only issue I had was with my HP AIO 7310 printer. Each time I turned it on I had to reset the router. I called D-Link Tech Support (verify helpful) and changed the routers settings to manually set up the IP address and other network information for the AIO. Since this was done I've had no problems.

A gamers must buy., May 1, 2008
By Julian G. Romero (TEXAS)
I've gone through several routers trying to find one that not only helped connect my gaming systems and computers to the internet, but was able to provide top speed without disconnection or lag. My last Linksys router did just that. The 108G Gaming Router runs flawless and gives me a smooth, fast connection. I especially like how it prioritizes my PS3 and XBox 360 connections over my PC ensuring the top speed is maintained. This technology is called "Gamefuel". Connection hardwired and wireless devices was easy through the wizard and there are plenty of advanced features such as for those who want to run virtual servers, MAC filtering, port forwarding, or advanced security features. This is a great router and I would recommend it to any gamer out there with multiple devices requiring internet connections.

Yes product, no service, April 28, 2008
By ir (Los Angeles, CA)
I've used the product before in work which is why I ordered it. No complaints with it, or with basic set up. But I when I did have an issue that wasn't answered by the "frequently asked questions and wrote to the service email address, I never rec'd an answer.

Una excelente compra, April 21, 2008
By Depredador64 (Guayaquil, Ecuador)

The best router I've ever owned (so far), April 17, 2008
By L. Miller (Portland, OR)
First let me say I've owned or worked with many routers in the computer consulting line of work. I've used several models from each of the big three: Linksys, D-Link, Netgear.
I've never had good luck with Linksys. All of their routers have given me problems, either with wireless, dropping wired connections, etc. I believe these are non-issues with some of their newer routers, including their Linux-based router, but have moved away from using them for now.
My Netgear worked great and had an easy interface, but I absolutely could not connect my Nintendo DS via wireless to it, so I had to ditch that one.
Enter the DGL-4300: I got this on sale for less than eighty bucks and it has been worth every penny. The interface is clean and simple, I've NEVER dropped a wired (or wireless) connection, and there are a ton of options on it. And one of the biggest bonuses of all? It looks cool! Finally, no more ugly pale-blue-on-black of the Linksys routers. This works with my Xbox 360 and DS without any issues. A little tip for Xbox Live players: do NOT use WPA wireless encryption; your games WILL lag uncontrollably! Stick with WEP for your 360. Call of Duty 4 runs flawlessly via wireless since I switched back.
Have not had any problems in the year that I've owned this with reliability or quality. Would highly recommend.

Excellent combo with D-Link DWL-G550, March 30, 2008
By S. Aponte (Long Island, NY)
This device works flawlessly with my D-Link DWL-G550 wireless PCI Card. I use it mainly for my living room PC which doesn't do a whole lot, but these two devices get the job done! I don't have much technical info for you, but if you are looking for a good and reliable setup, this device along with the DGL-4300 are the best solution IMO. I have had tons of issues with Linksys, especially their client software which is just hideous, which is why I researched and switched to this combination. You can't go wrong with these two!

amazing gaming router, March 10, 2008
By D. Corbett
I must say first off that xbox live can make life a pain when it comes to conectivity. i went through about 6 months of nothing but issues with 2 other routers and and countless settings on xbox live for 360 and finally broke down. I decieded to buy a gaming router in hopes it would all change and i must say this router is perfection. settings were as simple as just selecting xbox setup on the router menu and i havent touched it since. Not one issue has come up with my connectivity or gameplay since. This is an aplus router if your willing to spend a few extra dollars and have carefree setup.

dlink 4300 and xbox live, March 8, 2008
By lewbock (pa, usa)
I needed a new router and got this one with a promotional deal so the price was no problem. Now im not the biggest computer wiz but i manage. I got my computer tivo laptop and kids computer working pretty quickly but the xbox was the problem it connected but was choppy and would kick me off the game. So if you have xbox live make sure you go to the dlink page of this router and find xbox compatable frimware you must get this. The router is 1.7 and xbox needs 1.6. First thing you do is download it. then go to your router dlink page go to tools and click on firmware. then upload the 1.6 this sounds easy but it took me hours to figure it out once i did the xbox seems to work great. I also agree with other reviews the customer service is very bad. One guy couldn't figure it out so he told me it was defective send it back it works fine. So be aware if you talk to these guys don't expect much. Now that it works it seems to work fine but make sure you get the correct firmware for you xbox360 or you may go nuts trying to figure it out.

The DGL-4300 solved my problems., February 15, 2008
By Triskelion (KC)
I had an older D-Link wireless router. It worked ok except when I would connect to XBox Live. I would drop connections to other devices in the house. I bought the DGL-4300 in hopes of resolving the issue. I am glad I did. I had a bit of trouble at first but after calling D-Link customer service I got all the answers. They were one of the best tech support departments that I have ever worked with. He talked me through all the settings and told me about a lot of stuff that I would never had figured out on my own, such as setting up the firewall and the DMZ for the XBox Live. I really like this router.

As a computer professional, I would recommend Dlink products over Netgear or linksys *any* day of the week., February 14, 2008
By Ira Carmel
As a computer professional, I would recommend Dlink products over Netgear or linksys *any* day of the week.
This router supports the stronger WiFi encrytption for wireless access points for servers or items that don't support wireless cards. I feel safer with this router between me and the world.
Thanks Dlink!
Sincerely, Ira Carmel.
