    Great buy., November 4, 2006
By George Shum (Los Angeles, CA USA)
Pros: Strong signals throughout my whole house. Great speed. Reasonable price.

Cons: Had problems setting up my wireless network with the CD provided. Needed to do it manually by searching for the default IP address/admin password on the net and it took me a few trials to get it to work. Can be problematic for novice users.

Still a great buy if you don't mind setting it up manually.

3 Story Home and it works in every room, November 4, 2006
By Mark Artisan (California)
This is my first wireless Router. I like the freedom that it gives me. I can take my laptop anywhere in my home,on the porch and even down the block. It does seem to need rebooting more than my wired router but, I'm getting good at reseting it. It disconnects maybe once or twice per week. I would recommend this router to others.

Will never buy D-link again. Do not know if D-link ever tests their product before releasing. These folks probably never used their own stuff. It's just not working. Very annoying. Big waste of time and money.

broke after about a month, November 2, 2006
By Noel J. Mackisoc Jr.
This router worked ok for about a month and then failed when I was in the admin page.

Still kinda works, but I can no longer get into the admin page, and it takes forever to boot the router. I tried resetting it to factory defaults, but it doesnt respond to the switch.

I was happy with it when it worked, but it failed too fast to be satisfactory. I went and bought another one however.

Excellent router with low price !!!, October 24, 2006

You see a lot of negative comments about this router here, can't get connection, drop connection, etc. But they are due to user configuration error. I had these problems at first, but after 10 minutes of searching and troubleshooting, the router worked fine for a long time without the need to reset. A lot of DSL/cable modem user (such as Yahoo SBC) will need to configure the router than using the default values. Since both DSL and router default to IP 192.168.0.1, it creates problems. The best way I found is keep 192.168.0.1 (netmask 255.255.255.0) for the modem, keep PPPoE not bridge, and change router to 192.168.2.1 (netmask 255.255.255.0), and choose DHCP (dynamic IP) for the router (yes, for DSL too), they work perfectly. Before you do these, make sure you update your modem and router firmware to max the security and performance. Beware that if you call modem support, they won't tell you anything about the router, and vice vera if you call router support. If you have problem, search internet forum about your issue, there are plenty of solutions other people have already found.

Average Router. Good for everything except Torrenting., September 29, 2006
By Misbehave
This is not a bad router, but it is not a good one either.
Not only it doesn't allow high speed downloading torrent files, it keeps rebooting itself if you do use any torrenting client program.
However, for everyday web browsing, gaming, and network protection, it really does an OK job.
I guess the only really great router D-link can give us is its 120+ dollars Gaming router. So if you insist on getting a D-link router and you have to download torrent files, don't buy this one.

Very Nice Router, September 20, 2006
By Sean (MD USA)
I've had this router for over a year now. It was easy to setup and never had any problem. Currently, I have 4 desktops connected to it via Cat 5 cables and 2 laptops connected wirelessly. D-Link is also good at updating its firmware. I'm a happy customer.

Works fine for me., September 12, 2006

This device was very easy to set up and has worked great so far. I havent tried anything to technical so I wont comment on some of the features. However, if all you want is a router for the home that is easy to use this device works just fine.

I chose D-Link because of their customer support 24/7 for the life of the product. I have gone through 2 DI-624. DSL and Cable Modem (Road Runner). It keeps DROPPING THE SIGNAL. From reading another review, its true that the firmware updates are what kills this router. Each update creates new problems. Everyone tells me to use Linksys and I am getting one now... PS I have used D-Link for over 3 yrs!

Bit buggy, but value for money.., September 5, 2006
By Brian (San Diego, CA, USA)
All,
Be patient with this router, do all the software/firmware upgrades before trying anything serious. I have a Gateway Desktop and a Toshiba & Sony Laptop. At first my Sony Laptop had problems seeing my USB printer connected to the desktop. After reading some discussion boards a lot of problems can be re-solved by turning off NORTON Firewall. Then low and behold my printer could be seen. The Firewall worked so well it locked me out. Anyway for the paranoid amongst us you can go back later and turn it back on and still wirelessly connect to the printer !. Sometimes the router drops my Laptop at only a couple of feet away, yet other-times it will pick it up at 100Ft away, go figure. Configuring the router is cryptic and took me forever to turn on WPA and make it work. That being said it's a cheap deal if you can get everything working.

Dlink Wireless Router Works Like a Charm, August 30, 2006
By Samuel Grow
The D-Link wireless router installed in a flash and was up and running in minutes. The only way to go when using satellite and wireless network (point access).

I purchased this router based on price, capability and reputation. I plugged it into my Cable Modem and Mac and it worked perfectly in minutes. Additionally I used it to send music to a Roku music bridge about 50 feet away through 2 interior walls. Again it performed perfectly without a problem of any kind. I highly recommend it.

difficult installation unless you call toll free number for help, August 25, 2006
By Kapil
The unit seems to work very well but installation using CD rom which came in the box with the wireless router was of no help when I tried to install it at a university dorm where internet was available without a modem. The rep at the toll free number was very helpful and patient and helped set up the router and the encryption key for security. The interent connection at 100 Mbps was super fast.

A sure fire winner in the High Speed Arena, August 23, 2006

This is my second purchase of a wireless router in the past four years. As a matter of fact, I purchased the same model again, this time with updated firmware and a fourth generation Model Code. Setup was pretty easy right out of the box. But, you'll probably want to change the default security/password settings to protect your at home network from intruders. Since this was my second box, the setup was easy for me. But, The D-Link tech support staff is available (and FREE) 24 hours a day to help clarify any configuration issues or concerns that you might have. And, if you do get in trouble with the settings, there's always a handy reset button! Bottom Line: This router works great as a Wired/Wireless router and is fully compatible with both Cable and DSL Broadband systems. I've been very happy with the unit. Hope this review helps.

This worked right out the box. Plugged the vonage into the DSL into the router and the network setup. We don't need wireless security or anything so we leave it as is. Easiest install ever!

Over my head?, August 18, 2006
By E. Russo (San Francisco Bay Area, CA)
Frustrating at first because it took me a little while to learn how to use the D-Link Router. Once I learned what all of the terms meant, it was smooth sailing. Now I have a safe wireless computer, am able to work outside or at a neighbor's house! One more thing I must say, this is working on an OS X v.10.3.9. This wireless system almost felt like it was made for my little Mac. I did a lot of research to find the best wireless router for this computer and this is the only one I could find that claimed to "welcome Mac." computers.

Router was broken in less than one month, August 14, 2006
By programmer (usa)
totally stopped working in about 4 weeks...
the technical support is aweful, takes about 35 mins waiting time to get to the support, the phone connection can kill you, I have to hang it up and call again.

I wil shun from D-link for everything from now.

    Glad I upgraded, August 14, 2006
By T. Flemmons (Grand Prairie, TX USA)
This is a great router for home networking. I upgraded from the D-Link 514 router and there is a marked improvement in the wireless networking speed. It's compact design and easy of installation makes for a hassle free network setup.

This unit is terrible, its poorly made, cheap does not work well with Macintosh computers and the tech-support is terrible! The tech support - barely speaks english, is difficult to understand and the phone connections are awful - made me wonder why they even offer tech support. Trust me this is not a good product.
