    Flawless product, October 16, 2005
By Hammad Malik (Edison, NJ United States)
I have used the product for about 1 month now and I am extremely satisfied with this product. I am using the included USB cable and cradle to keep the wireless adapter on top of my desk where I get much better signal. I get 54Mbps signal all the time and no disconnections.

    So easy you'll laugh, October 15, 2005
By Mark (Illinois United States)
I plugged this into an older PC that I have had for about three years. All I did was upgrade my USB 1.1 to USB 2.0 so I could get the most speed out of it. I popped in the installation CD and within minutes it had found all the networks/routers that I could connect to. {Just as a point... The router that I am using this with is no farther than 50 feet away. This adapter must have picked up at least 7 or 8 other networks in the area, so this little thing does have good reception} I found my router and within seconds was online. D-Link had software that puts a small icon in your system icons on the lower right of your screen(Windows XP) so you can monitor the strength and security of your wireless connection. This thing is great!

When it works, it works fine -- when it works, October 15, 2005
By Sincere Amazonian (Illinois)
When it works, this USB wireless adapter is very nice. The main problem that I've had is that it does not make a tight connection with the USB port, and I've tried several different USB ports that other devices work with just fine. When the connection is not perfectly snug, the wireless connection is lost. Also, the installation, software and drivers are not intuitive. Nonetheless, it's still a nifty device, most of the time.

Fragile piece of junk, period, September 23, 2005
By aka Tarquin F'tang F'tang Ole Biscuitbarrel (Luton)
The item worked okay for the two weeks that I used it-- pretty good signal strength and very easy configuration. Then it stopped suddenly... what a piece of crap! When it did work, it ran at a very high temperature. Don't electronic and computer manufacturers know how to design things around voltages and heat??

    Fine for USB2.0, but don't even try with USB1.1, September 19, 2005
By Michael Lin (beijing, china)
I tried to use this with an older computer that only had a USB1.1 port. The throughput was pathetic, limited to 56K and a call to Dlink tech support confirmed it.

Works fine with another notebook with a USB2.0 port. Got up to 3Mbps on one bandwidth meter.

Works with the Mac Mini & Jaguar..., September 17, 2005
By clicclic (Indianapolis, IN Estados Unitos)
This USB dongle does work with the Mac Mini and Jaguar. BUT: you must get the dongle that uses firmware version 2.02, not 1.02. The older version uses a Prism chipset, which doesn't work. The newer version uses a Ralink chipset which does work.

[...]
When you turn on your mac you have to unplug this and then plug it in to get the mac to recognize it. But that's really trivial. A great little product for Mac peeps. I haven't tried it with Tiger yet.

Works in LINUX, with some problems, September 13, 2005
By unknown
The adapter comes in 2 versions with Prism or Realtek chipset (mine has the Prism). It works in Linux with ndiswrapper v1.12, however:

1. WAP/WEP encryptions are not supported.
2. if the PC is also connected via ethernet to the router, the adapter cannot get an IP lease.
3. it crashes the system if unplugged.

Other than that, I had no other problems or noticed any random disconnections. Given the sorry state of wifi support for Linux I can't complain too much.

    awesome product, September 12, 2005

installation was so easy, re-booted my system and it works wonderfully. I like it.

    Does not support WPA-PSK, September 10, 2005
By Support Guy (Ann Arbor, MI USA)
Bought this to upgrade from WEP to WPA-PSK support. After 1 month and an RMA from D-link, was told it does NOT support WPA-PSK and D-link would not let me return it.

Avoid this product

Great, until it died, September 4, 2005
By NishWit (Washington)
Set up fairly easily, though it did involve two calls to customer service, and the folks there are not excellent, but eventually they can help. Worked fine, I was happy. Until it flat out quit functioning at all on Day 28 of it's young life.

Good and Handy, August 28, 2005
By d_k_s (India)
A very nice and handy product. I used it to connect my desktop with my laptop (Peer-to-Peer Ad-Hoc connection). It works great, and has a decent range. There are two reasons because of which I have not given it Five Stars:

1) It gets very hot. Even if there is no data transfer. Even within 10 minutes of use.

2) The connection speed is seldom 54Mbps. Around 8 out of 10 times that I connect it, the speed is 11Mbps.

Overall a great product.

    decent usb 2.0 adapter, August 25, 2005
By Michael H. Le
it's not bad, the connection speeds are decent but the signal is not as good as my dell 1350 (notebook) wireless adapter. 45 feet away and it swings from 3 to 4 bars of signal. overall, i think it's a good product.

    +100kb/sec!, August 23, 2005
By Oliver (Oakland, CA USA)
The D-Link was very easy to setup! I first installed the drive using the accompanied CD onto my WinXP service pack 2 with a breeze.

After restarting the computer, i plugged in the D-Link into the computer using the usb extender that the package came with. I ran some speed tests on the computer and the downloading speed topped at 100kb/sec! I was amazed!

By the way, this adapter has to fight through 3 other wireless networks and about 4 walls in order to get to my wireless station, not to mention that my usb port is only usb 1.1!

    Works great, August 23, 2005
By Kane Ehrler (California)
Got the DWL-122 after having the DWL-132, the 132 is supposed to have higher maximum speed, but I haven't noticed a difference between the 2. The adapter works great and I haven't had a problem with it yet. Using both of these D-Link adapters with the D-Link DI-624 wireless router.

    Works Great, August 19, 2005
By chandresh (Virginia,USA)
The adapter works just fine. Very easy to install. With the linksys wireless router it works like a charm. Signal strength is always very good or excellent.

Having said that the adapter doesn't work well with Belkin wireless router. I m not sure if the router was bad or the adapter was incompatible. It kept dropping connections. I exchanged the router for linksys and no problem after that.

    Works great., August 15, 2005
By A. Householder
I have this set up with an older Dell Laptop, and a Linksys WRT54G access point/router. The DWL-G122 works just fine with WPA enabled. Range is acceptable - the Linksys is upstairs, and the D-Link works fine downstairs and out on the deck.

Not good at all, August 13, 2005
By A. Azad
This product not faster as mentioned. Very slow. Belkin much batter..

    works well, August 11, 2005
By Bigfish
The driver on the CD is kind of buggy, took me 5 rounds to finally removed it and reinstalled a newer version I downloaded on line. The position of the adapter is very important, please use the cable and put the adapter on top of your moniter or elsewhere a higher ground, you will have a better result.

Wow! What a great product!, August 4, 2005
By cliopatra (Florida)
After reading reviews on this and other USB products I bought this product with a great deal of trepidation.

This was a snap to install and the signal strength was terrific! I was surprised at how simple it was.

fast setup, not soooo good reception, July 28, 2005
