Description:
Connect to wireless networks at farther distances than before with D-Link's AirPlus Xtreme G line of products infused with Double XR (2XR) Technology. By combining D-Link's new 2XR technology with D-Link 108G technology, this new Wireless Desktop Adapter offers dramatic performance improvements over standard 802.11g.Based on the latest in Smart Antenna technology, 2XR technology provides the DWL-G520M with the performance boost, which delivers Xccelerated Rates at Xtended Range than standard 802.11g. When paired with D-Link's 2XR-powered Wireless 108G MIMO Router for an end-to-end solution, reach up to 8x faster speeds at 8x farther coverage. Have more flexibility in the placement of your desktop and still maintain a strong wireless connection.Even if only your client adapter is 2XR-enabled, you can still experience the performance benefits of faster rates at father distances with virtually any standard 802.11g wireless router. In addition, the DWL-G520M remains backward compatible to 802.11b. As an end-to-end 2XR solution, or even as a single-ended solution, D-Link's 2XR technology is capable of providing exceptional wireless performance while dramatically reducing the number of dead spots throughout your home or officeWith an included configuration utility and the Installation Wizard, setup for your DWL-G520M is a straightforward process. The utility keeps track of your most frequently accessed networks and their specific settings, so joining networks is an automatic process. The DWL-G520M also supports the latest security features such as WPA-PSK making your adapter compatible with secure wireless networks. With superior wireless performance powered by 2XR and MIMO technology, enhanced WPA security, and ease-of-use, the DWL-G520M is the ideal wireless client adapter for desktop PC users.

    Not Quite 5 Stars, February 12, 2007

Purchased these adapters (bought two) in the hope that my remote computer wireless connections would drop off less frequently but have been somewhat disappointed in that the performance, while good, is still not much better than with the older technology. This adapter works well but not quite up to the five star level. Still recommended....good bang for the buck.

No Vista Support, February 7, 2007

1st Card DOA. Replacement worked ok with Windows XP. No Vista support is unacceptable for a card in this price range. If you plan on going to Vista soon skip this card until(if ever) vista drivers ship.

Don't stomp your feet, sneeze, or slam the door., March 29, 2006

We have 50+ of these cards at work and I have 4 at home. I have never seen a more "fragile" PCI card. If you slam a door or stomp your feet near the PC, this card may very well cease to function on the next reboot. God forbid you attempt to move the tower. Every other day, someone has a malfunctioning card which needs to be jiggled, removed and reinserted, or otherwise screwed with.

When it does actually work, the connection is usually good.

Saved me time and money, January 8, 2006

My home set up has my computer in the basement, the router on the second floor. This has worked fine for a year or so, as long as I was the only one using the wireless. As soon as my son got on the network from his computer (also over the wireless) my connection would get spotty and I'd have to reconnect frequently.

I almost upgraded the router from a DI-624 to the DI-634M. I decided to upgrade my DWL-G520 PCI adapter first. Good move.

The DI-G520M installed easily following the instructions in the box. As soon as the computer rebooted the network was found and I've been a solid 3 of 4 bars ever since. No more drops and the speed is as fast as ever.

With this card I saved a few bucks and, more importantly, saved the effort of configuring a new router.

Highly recommended.
