Nice little gem, August 12, 2008
By user (Grand Prairie, TX)
I like this little gem. I had a PCI wireless card for my desktop that was several years old and no longer supported by the manufacturer. I needed to upgrade, but I wanted a USB wireless adapter this time around. I wanted to get it out from the bottom of my desk so I could a better signal. I had certain requirements for my new purchase. It couldn't cost any more than $45. It had to be USB. And it had to have some sort of USB extention cable or cradle. It had to be reviewed by Windows Vista users. It also had to have excellent reception. I don't have a big house, but there were a lot of walls and electronics near and in between the Access Point and my computer.
After searching I found the DLink Wireless G adapater fit the bill. I picked it up for $30 (at least $10 less than local stores). All of the reviews talked about great reception, even indepent review sites. And it had the USB craddle I was looking for. I bought it and got free shipping along with it! What a Deal!
I've had this little gem installed for about one month now, I coudn't be happier. It gets great reception. This adapter runs absolutely great with Vista. I am also using the included connection software and it plays very well with Vista.
The only downside is the optional craddle. It requires either a direct computer USB port, or a powered USB hub with an external power supply. It draws more mA than a non-powered hub can handle (at least it did on mine). I had to use the power supply on my USB hub to get the craddle to work. This is the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5.
I highly recommend this product. You will not be disappointed.

Decent product- no major complaints, August 2, 2008
By user (Philadelphia, PA USA)
Product installed fine- works well. The only issue is the overall performace. Just a little slow- but not a deal breaker. Has a nice little stand with heavily weighted base, so it holds up nicely. I'd buy again.

up to par, July 19, 2008
By user (Virginia beach, VA)
This product performed as advertised.I was wary of purchasing a similar type with a lower price since it may not be sensitive enough for what I intended to use it for(upstairs bedroom).I'm happy I bought this one! I did not have any problems installing the software and my desktop easily recognized the hardware.I also tried to install it on my laptop and that was painless too. Both my systems run XP(64 and media center) and applying this peripheral was seamless and has been trouble-free so far. Sensitivity is good and as anyone knows, depends on factors such as location, presence of obstructions, and other RF emitting appliances. This is worth the money!

Reasonable wireless USB adapter option, July 12, 2008
By user (Alexandria, VA)
Just installed this product today. About 20-30 minutes after opening the box, I'm connected to the Internet. A couple of notes about the install: -The buttons on the autorun installation menu didn't work for me. I had to navigate to my CD drive and find the setup file to start the installation -The drivers are bundled up with a (useless?) D-Link connection manager and there is no easy way to install (or uninstall) one without the other...
On the plus side, I get a pretty good signal 25ft away through a wall, so it does the job it's supposed to.

USB wireless, July 12, 2008
By user (Ponce Inlet FL)
The adapter worked after the install with no problems. The range is almost as good as I get with the dell factory one my wife has in her laptop. Once in a while it will not find the wirless hub when it is in standby for a few hours. All you need to do is remove the adapeter and put right back in the USB port and it syncs up just fine. Good buy for the money.

Economical connectivity for 64-bit OS, July 3, 2008
By user (Colton, California)
I used to buy only Linksys products, until I installed 64 bit Edition of Vista... At the date of purchase, Lynksys did not have Vista 64 bit drivers much less Linux compatibility....So I give this inexpensive D Link a try.. COMPLETE SATISFACTION FOR ME: Also I wanted to have and adapter that could work out of the box for Linux and it does the job. D Link has many products Linux compatible. My selection of Oses: Vista Ultimate 64 bit, Ubuntu 64 bit (OUT OF THE BOX); XP Professional 32 Bit

D-Link, June 27, 2008
By user (USA)
One year ago I purchased a D- Link router and 2 D-Link wireless USB adapters for my children's computers for upstairs. We did not have any problems up to last week. One USB adapter stopped working? If the router is D-link should I buy a D-Link wireless USB adapter or any other wireless USB adapters work?

decent basic wifi stick, supports WPA-PSK-TKIP, June 24, 2008
By user (Brooklyn, NY United States)
got this wifi stick because the price mistake, got it for very good price the installation is easy, can use Windows default wifi program I worried once does it support WPA, because it's not mentioned on the package after installation, found it does (my wireless access points have WPA setup) connect AP at home with no problem, and the reception is fine nothing fancy, just a decent basic USB wifi adaptor

Improved my wireless connection, June 24, 2008
By user (California, USA)
On my 4.5 year old notebook, I was not able to use the wireless network on the University of Southern California in most spots. However, with the help of the D-Link WUA 1340, I can connect in places in which I could not connect before. I am running Linux, and, thus, hardware drivers can be an issue. To make the device work, I used the instructions on http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=270756 by "TripleWithCheese".

Great for wireless internet, May 30, 2008
By user (Alberta)
If you need to increaseyour wireless strength or get that PC on wirless internet, this is your tool. Forget crap like Linksys and Belkin, D-Link makes the best, fastest, most reliable wireless products. If your like me and tried them all now try D-Link, great routers too.

Works like a charm!, October 24, 2007
By user (Muskegon, MI USA)
Works with Windows and Linux. Install was quick and simple, pop in the disc and pretty much just click next the whole way through.
- Great reception. - Nice heavy extension cradle. - Product case DOES feel flimsy and cheaply made(it's what's on the inside that counts), but you're supposed to take care of your electronics.
Perhaps Dennis shouldn't have stepped on his. Mine holds together just fine.
Fantastic Wireless adapter for the money. I would recommend this product to anyone.
"So simple to set up, even my mother could do it. "
4 out of 5 because it does feel a little flimsy.

Flimsy, September 30, 2007

The product falls apart. Tape held the case together for awhile, then it just stopped working. Don't buy. -Dennis Chandler-Holtz

Good Adapter, July 24, 2007
By user
The adapter was easy to install and worked well, but was limited to a PC upstairs directly over my Belkin N1 router. It would not function on the opposite side of the house approximately 40 feet distance from the present location. I am satisfied with the results.

WUA-1340 ... works good, July 26, 2006
By user (California, USA, Earth)
Bought this D-Link WUA-1340 at Best Buy for $39.99 (to replace a Belkin F5D7050 which simply had too many annoying quirks) So far the WUA-1340 is working fine. It was easy to install, works well with Windows Zero Configuration, and has a heavier base cradle. Also works with my older USB 1.1 machines with no issues.
