Horrible piece of hardware, June 21, 2008
By Tuan Snizzle (Las Vegas, NV)
Seems to be the general consensus that this thing sucks. It does. It keeps dropping from my wireless network (which I know is good because everything else on it stays on). Software it comes with is horrible. I would seriously recommend finding an alternative.

DO NOT PURCHASE!, April 7, 2008
By Ozyrus (USA)
Dynex obviously does not produce quality products. Do NOT purchase this item! Here is a short list of the major issues I had with this product before I returned it:
You cannot load ONLY the driver for this device, you have to load the software, which is rotten! (see above review)
Double clicking the icon on the desktop to open the application doesn't produce an effect, until a few minutes later. By then you've clicked it several times thinking your mouse clicking didn't work, but instead you end up with several instances of the same application open at once, which overloads your system memory and causes a crash.
If you have a WEP password protected connection - forget about connecting to it. The (crappy) software tries to fill in its own password. If you change it to the REAL password, it doesn't work. Going back to see what password is in the software will again produce the 'random' password generated by the software. HORRIBLE!
Attempting to uninstall the software (clicking on uninstall) actually starts up the installation wizard. Wow! Real geniuses working at Dynex!
While attempting to install the software/driver, after the 'please plug in the USB adapter' message, the system hangs for up to 30 minutes while the slow-running software detects that something was plugged in, even though windows told me it was the moment I plugged it in.
Dynex' supposed customer support is about as useful as a football bat. They pass the blame to anyone and everyone but them.
Please, save yourself from getting balder or more gray hairs by going with another product! Don't be another sucker!

I got it for $9 and still think I got ripped off, November 29, 2007
By Stray Dog and commentator (Washington, DC)
I purchased two Dynex Wireless G USB Adapters last night. The purpose was to add my Tivo and newly purchased Xbox 360 to my home network.
The Wireless G adapter tested fine on my laptop, so I went and tried it out on Tivo. Tivo doesn't support that kind of adapter. Then I went to my Xbox 360. While the adapter would power up,the system refused to recognize the adapter. Per my conversations with Dynex's tech support, this was my fault exclusively.
So the system didn't work for what I needed it to, the tech support staff wasn't helpful, and I now have to return both of these adapters. Overall, I do not recommend this product.

OK hardware, horrible software, November 2, 2007
By www.SanFranciscoSelfGuidedTour.com (San Francisco, CA)
The form factor on this is fine and the hardware seems to do a good job picking up networks, but the software with this is horrible.
The software has serious memory management problems: it fills up the XP page files (i.e. the swap files) without releasing any memory until the computer is unusable due to memory problems.
I reloaded this software and left the computer on, and un-used, overnight. When I checked in the morning, the Dynex software had generated 3 separate XP error messages, all involving memory, and had filled the entire page file. I had to actually turn the computer off using the power switch because the entire system had slowed to a crawl because of Dynek's poor memory management even though no applications were running.
I have a dual processor XP box with 2 GB of RAM and the Dynex software, running by itself with no applications, brings the entire box down in about four hours. If I use any applications that access the internet, the box just crashes faster.
All of this is after I installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled several times. The install/uninstall is so bad that, at one point, I had to turn off the computer and, when I rebooted and selected "UNinstall" the software restarted an INstall. All of this is on a box that had been running flawlessly for 3 months before installing the Dynex product.
Given how bad the install/uninstall is for this software, I am extremely concerned that I will not be able to get a clean uninstall and I will be having problems due to this product for months.
