Designed for outdoors - Doesn't cost 'An arm and a leg', June 30, 2007

I have one of these in service bringing the Internet to a remote dock at the marina. If you're somewhat familiar with Wi-Fi devices, setup will not be difficult. When checking the communication range, I could sometimes receive a strong signal but could not connect .. the EOC-3220 transmits a 400 mw signal but a typical notebook Wi-Fi adaptor usually transmits well less than 100 mw so the communication circuit is not balanced. However, the device seems to receive somewhat better than most access points so the imbalance isn't all that bad.

There is a boot that provides strain relief and weather sealing for the Cat5 cable. I could not pass a RJ45 connector of a pre-assembled cable through the boot. So you will need to install the connector yourself. I didn't use the boot and sealed the entry with duct seal.

Note the EOC-3220 has a directional internal antenna. The EOC-3220 Ext provides omni coverage. So decide what version you need before ordering.

It's meant for outdoor use, is powered through the data cable (PoE), and seems to work well. I like mine.
