| This sleek, high-power USB WiFi 802.11a/b/g adaptor combines all the benefits of: Ubiquitous WiFi + Superior Range + Ultra Speed. You can be assured of your investment with full compatiability with all (3) IEEE "WiFi" wireless standards: 802.11b + 802.11g + 802.11a. While most off-the-shelf network cards offer a mere 32mW output power, this adaptor supports one of the industry's most powerful "consumer-grade" networking devices capable of operating at 200mW! Based on the popular Atheros chipset technology, you can connect similar devices at a blazing fast 108 Mbps! This product includes a USB Cable and CD containing utility / drivers for Windows 2000/XP. |

Very useful. Great hardware. But poor drivers (3rd party drivers are recommended instead)., February 15, 2008

A very nice quality device. I deployed it on a college campus for desktops located in older buildings without a hard-wired network, and it has performed superbly, picking up pretty distant signals from our AP's. As opposed to the slightly smaller flashdrive-type adapters, it has been VERY useful having an adjustable antenna and a soft wire - this way you can move it around until you find the spot with the best reception (no need to move the whole machine). I would, however, advise against using the default drivers that come on CD, the wireless utility is very nice, but a better, more stable set of drivers come with Airlink101's AWLL4030 [...] . Both of these units are based on the same Atheros chipset (usbid: 0cf3:0001), so either drivers will work. I would say buy the EnGenius hardware and use it with Airlink101 drivers. NOTE: This device is officially supported only on Windows, but I was able to make it work on Linux using NDISwrapper.
