Merilus included additional features like bandwidth management, which allows you control how your bandwidth is being used. Active Alerts, which can be configured to page or email the system's administrator if there is any unusual activity on the network. Plus there is the Out of Band Management feature that gives password authorized access to the firewall through a modem, virtually eliminating the vulnerability to Denial of Service attacks.Much like the FireCard, the FireCard Plus acts as an independent system with its own resources and will function perfectly even if the host system is taken off line or crashes.
