| Description: |
The Ultra RangePlus Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Network Adapter is the simple way to add or upgrade wireless connectivity in your desktop or notebook computer. Just plug it into your computer's USB port and enjoy incredible high-speed wireless network access. The Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Network Adapter uses the very latest wireless networking technology, Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios for each band, Wireless-N's "Multiple In, Multiple Out" (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. Unlike ordinary wireless networking technologies that are confused by signal reflections, MIMO actually uses these reflections to increase the range and reduce "dead spots" in the wireless coverage area. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections much farther than standard Wireless-G. And with Wireless-N, the farther away you are, the more speed advantage you get. It works great with standard Wireless-G, -A, and -B equipment, but when both ends of the wireless link are Wireless-N, the throughput can be increased even more by using twice as much radio band
Dual-band wireless networks operate in both the 2.4 and 5 gigahertz radio bands at the same time, effectively doubling the available wireless bandwidth. For instance, you could set up your network to handle video streaming on one radio band, and use the other band for simultaneous data transfers -- avoiding any interference or collisions that would degrade the video performance. The Dual-Band Wireless-N USB Network Adapter allows you to connect using whichever band works the best for your situation. Operates in the 2.4 and 5GHz radio bands -- choose the one with least congestion in your area Also connects to Wireless-G, -B, and -A networks |

works fast with Linksys wireless N Gigabyte router, May 4, 2008
By user (barcelona spain)
I have XP Pro svpk 2. the adaptor is located in the next room from the router... The router has the WEP2 wireless security function and the adaptor allows for easy auto setup. The adaptor was plugged directly into the back USB 2.0 port instead of the extended wire connector. It installed easily..and for the past hour it has vacillated from 54 Mbps up to 108Mbps... happy-happy. Its connection data shows it is connected at 2.4Ghz.. I have not found how to change it to 5Ghz nor does the wee bit of documentation tell you. I tried the 54 Mbps PCI card and it dropped the wireless connection every few min. The Netgear WPN111 USB adaptor tried its best to connect and has a lovely dash board with easy to understand connection data, but it too seemed to lose its connection to the router, and as with other reviews on the Netgear product it was always very hot. I tried this USB because it matched the Linksys router data. I will try it out for the next few days and report back. I also have found the Linksys technical support to be horrid. My experience with external adaptors for wireless desktops has been dismal and hope I have found the solution by getting the WUSB600N.

N but Defaults to G 2.4, April 29, 2008
By user (Seattle, WA)
It works but starts in G - 2.4 gigahertz mode. You have to re-start it in N - 5 gigahertz to get the benefit of the fast connections. Support hung up before a solution was made. Poor support! The adviser was just a nag screen and gets in the way!

Works just as advertised, April 8, 2008
By user (Snoqualmie, WA USA)
If you have a 5Ghz router you may find that some of your computers do not come with the card to receive on this frequency. This adapter takes care of that problem. The adapter is easy to install. Plus, it comes with a wired base that connects to the desktop. This base allows you to easily move the adapter as needed to capture a good signal. I have had no problem with this device since I installed it a month ago.

Interference and battery drain, March 30, 2008
By user (Seattle, WA)
I was lucky if I could connect with this wireless adapter. As well the adapter wreaked havoc with my other nearby wireless devices. I tried two different models of Logitech wireless mice, both of which moved erratically and dropped clicks while this wireless adapter was plugged in. Not to mention that my battery life was nearly cut in half while I was connected. I promptly returned the adapter.
I have a Netgear WG-111 which works great, doesn't drain my battery or interfere with my wireless mice.

Works with Airport Extreme, February 29, 2008
By user (Fullerton, CA United States)
I installed my HP machine to connect Apple AirPort Extreme 11n Product with 5.4Ghz.
Works well, however signal reception is little bit weak. I founded two external antenna port when I tore off the case. If you can modify this, you can have better coverage.
