Not what is pictured, August 10, 2008
By Steven M. Scott
This product should not be under a picture of a wireless card that has an anntenae. Even though the description says no anntenae, it is misleading. And since you cannot purchase just an anntenae, it is essentially a paper weight.

Works ok for me, August 4, 2008
By kujhawk94 (Plainville, KS)
I purchased a WMP54G for my parents computer to avoid running cable through their house. The first one worked well for about a year when it suddenly received no signal - acted like the antenna connection was bad - possibly due to rearrangement of cords, etc. behind the computer. A replacement card has worked flawlessly ever since from a second story office to wireless router in the basement.

Has Never Failed Me, July 30, 2008
By K-Dawg (Fergus Falls, MN)
A few months ago, I purchased two Linksys products: a wireless Internet router, and this wireless-G PCI adapter. The router was the biggest piece of junk I have ever owned, but this adapter has worked perfectly. The installation is simple and it never drops a connection. I even switched to a D-Link router and this product continues to work, putting to rest any compatibility issues I was worried about.
I highly-recommend this router for use with any wireless-G products...just stay away from the router of the same brand!

A Clinic in Self-Immolation, July 22, 2008
By D. Schroeder (Amidst the Carolinas)
I've set up 3 Linksys wireless adapters now -- two of these and one Linksys WPC54GS Wireless-G Notebook Adapter with SpeedBooster to work with my Linksys WRT54GS Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster. The first one of these and the Notebook Adapter had serious issues in handshaking with the router and required significant time on the phone with Linksys to set up, and I'm still not completely happy with their functionality.
Surprisingly, this second WMP54G that I installed had no issues whatsoever, and setup was a breeze. Too bad it only lasted 3 weeks before "frying" itself.
Am waiting now on a replacement from Linksys.

Easy to setup, May 29, 2008

Was a little concerned that I would be connecting to my D-LINK 614+ router but followed directions and was up and running in minutes, so far so good.

Somewhat functional, April 27, 2008
By John J. Lindsey (MO, USA)
Ever since I bought adapter, I've had problems with it. Oh, it installed fine for me, but that's about it...
I predominately use the internet for online gaming, and this adapter just doesn't cut it. No matter how well Linksys says you're connected, you cannot play an online game without ridiculous lag spikes (every 20 seconds or so).
Internet browsing on this adapter isn't much better... Me and my roommates have our own network set up, and the router I'm connecting to is one very thin wall away, and yet internet web browsing only works well in short spurts (you have to click "repair" on your network connections every few minutes or so... and no, configuring a static IP does not work).
Also, after about 3 months of use, the antenna on the adapter inexplicably just came loose and fell off... so ridiculous.
I give this product 2 stars instead of 1, because it might actually be a practical product for a person who simply wants to casually browse the internet every once in a while for e-mail and such. Everyone else should steer clear.

the right choice for me, April 20, 2008
By reciprocity (Gloucester, MA USA)
This adapter installed very quickly without incident. It was also a good time to clean the dust out of the insides of my Dell (not as much as I expected). Started up and was on my way in mere minutes. I have a Linksys router and configuration couldn't be simpler! There's an easy connect feature button that was immpossible to screw up. I've seen some of the negative reviews, but all I can say is that it was exactly what I was looking for.

Linksys WMP54G PCI Adapter Ver 4.1, February 16, 2008
By B. Walker (Cedar Rapids IA)
Linksys is now shipping ver 4.1 reather than 4.0. This involves a change of chipset and on Linux a change to the rt61pci driver. This driver is still in development. In addition the XP driver is not longer recognized by ndiswrapper as a valid Windows XP driver. I am extreemly disappointed in Linksys as the router for these cards (WRT54GL) has a specific linux version.

Don't buy anything from Linksys, January 14, 2008
By J. Morgan (Alabama)
I have this card in my desktop running XP. The main problem I have with it is that it constantly disconnects from my wireless network. It also rarely ever connects at 54 mbps. It usually is only at 18 or 36 mbps. Googling these problems shows that a lot of other people have the same issues and no solution. Having owned several different Linksys products over the years I would recommend avoiding the brand at all costs. It is worth the extra 10 or 20 bucks to get something from D-Link or Netgear.
P.S. Don't even think about trying to get drivers for this card to work with Linux.

Constantly disconnects, December 7, 2007
By "Tee" (New Orleans)
I have 3 laptops that never, ever lose connectivity to my router - so don't go blaminig my problem on that! But his card? OMG Let's just put it this way, I have my 128bit passcode memorized because I use it DAILY!!! Yes, I've downloaded the latest driver. Yes, I've changed all the settings as suggested. Yes, I've tried everything suggested. It's just a piece of junk. And according to Linksys blogs, other cards for towers have similar problems. Linksys just lost a loyal customer.

Works Great, November 6, 2007
By Soccer Luver (Pocatello)
This Wireless card works great with my WRT54G Linksys router. I use WPA with MAC address filters on my router and all my wireless connections with this card work better than when the PC was connected directly with the DSL router.
Easy installation and setup.

Still going, October 16, 2007

Purchased this wireless card several years ago and have used it in a few computers I've owned. Still working perfectly to this day with no problems.

pretty good... but not really, September 29, 2007
By Xan (California, USA)
This is a good piece of equipment when it works... when it isn't working it is sometimes the buggiest internet connection ever. Maybe its the combo that sucks... I have an airport express wireless router by apple, since I have a couple mac laptops in my house, and my desktop (a hp media center m7750n) is a door down the hall. I never get 5 bars... sometimes it just doesn't work... and sometimes i get a message that says access: local only which just means im so close yet so far away from internet connection. Do not buy this product unless you're very patient.

Great Wireless-G Card, September 13, 2007
By Stephen Johnston (Austin, TX USA)
If you run a home network in your house you should definetly be using the Linksys-WRT54GL, and if you are using that then you should probably be using this Wireless-G card. Works great!

Can't Keep Signal, August 23, 2007
By cajun boy (Geneva,IL)
I just bought a 3G Compaq computer with a pentium4 processor. It came with Vista Home on it. First off, the adapter instuctions tell you to go to the Linksys website to download the driver for Vista. If I could do that, then I wouldn't need an adapter! I tried to download the vista driver to a CD on another computer and then load that CD on to my computer. I tried for 4 days and never did figure out how to do it. I finally paid $88.00 to have it done. The card now works for a few minutes and then I'm told that my computer has no network. My son's computer has another brand of card in it and it never has a problem. I've invested too much time and money to put up with this crraap.

Wireless PCI adapter, July 27, 2007
By R. YANG (Vally Stream, NY United States)
I bought this for my new desktop computer that I just moved from my upstair den to downstair bedroom. In order not to pull the cable around the house, I add this to the desktop to work wirelessly.
The installation is a easy snap, and it takes no time to get it going. I do noticed the small slowdown on the speed, specially when I play on-line games. For the tradeoff, I can live with it.

Very good, June 20, 2007
By Mariketi Papatzikos
I'm happy about this buy, but i have to say that the installation program that comes in the CD-ROM, trows a problem, sometimes it doesnt install the program correctly, and then you have to do it again. I Buy 2 of them, and in both computers i've installed them, it gets me the same problem...
