| Description: |
| Linksys Wireless-G PCI Adapter with SRX - This PCI card allows a desktop computer to access your wireless home network for file transfer and Internet access. Unlike most adapters, it features SRX and MIMO technology for increased range and reduced wireless "dead spots". This is done by utilizing 3 reflected wireless signals. Ordinary wireless technology gets confused by multiple signals, but SRX and MIMO utilizes the multiple reflections to your advantage. In addition to the increased range and decreased dead spots, you also get a data throughput boost of up to 8x basic 802.11g! Security - WPA, WPA2, WEP, & 802.1x WEP Key Bits - 64 & 128 Minimum Requirements - available PCI slot and Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP |

Very impressive works as described and some cords too short, July 4, 2008
By Is (Joliet, IL)
This adapter is awesome it picks up signals from a block away. It works as described and it is easy to install. Only drawback is the length of the wires which are barely long enough for you to sit it on top of your tower. So, if your tower is under your desk or in your desk im not sure how great it would be as i have my tower on top of my desk with the antenna on top of the tower.
I use this adapter with the srx router and the both of them together is unreal.
Be careful as you can pick up your network from blocks away from your house. I have done it using my pda and pickup up my signal from 2 blocks away with at least 2-3 bars of signal as well.

Not compatible with WinXP Service Pack 2 or Vista, November 8, 2007
By space_hamster (Hobart, Tasmania)
I bought the WRT54GX router and the WMP54GX wireless card together. My room is blocked by copper piping, so it's always been difficult to get a signal with "ordinary" 802.11b and -g wireless cards.
The network card was easy to install. I was glad they used a wired antenna rather than one directly attached to the card. The software installation required me to reboot my PC, which I thought was annoying. On the other hand, the network card had no problem connecting to my router. And the signal was exceptionally strong. Data transfer is also lightning fast.
Now the bad news. The biggest downside to this network card is the poor software compatibility. Neither the Linksys software drivers or their network configuration utility are compatible with Windows XP Service Pack 2. And since most PC users on the planet are probably using SP2, this is a major problem. Some serious bugs with SP2 have included the Blue-Screen-of-Death, frequent connection timeouts and even hard reboots. What's worse, there has been no software update from Linksys to fix this problem.
So my recommendation? If you're running Windows XP Service Pack 1, and are not planning to upgrade to SP2, then go ahead and buy this card. If, on the other hand, you have WinXP SP2 or Vista, then avoid this card like the plague.

Adapter works great - Setup was simple. I do use a Linksys Router and have been very satisfied with everything. -- If you can find it for a decent price (less than 50 bucks) I say GO FOR IT !!!

Not Vista compatible, April 10, 2007
By S. Ray
The only way I could get this card to work on a Windows Vista maching is in safe mode. I used their help chat service on line and was told that they have no plans to make it compatible with Vista. I was chatting with them using the card in safe mode. it not only picked up my network but 4 others from a very long distance. This was not a big deal to me because I was planning to install Window XP on the machine anyway. its a new machine and would not send it with XP and I have some expensive software that is not Vista compatible. They have a listing of products that are Vista compatible on the website.

have to say this product really made my life easier!! i live in the city on the 5th floor in my bldg. i recently built an enclosed music studio in my garage space...installed this product and the LINKSYS WRT54GX4 IEEE 802.3/3u, IEEE 802.11b/g Wireless-G Broadband Router with SRX400 and life is good!!! 4 outta 5 bars for signal strength all day long with no dropped signals from 5 floors away!! took me a minute to dial in the right security to work with my ISP but once that was done i have not looked back. life as a musician in an apt has not looked better!!LOL

Met the need, February 15, 2007

The router/WAP /SRX and its companion PCI adapter performed significantly better than my previous generation products. I did experience better coverage and higher speeds on the wireless link.

Great connection, November 13, 2006
By kalla0069 (Maryland, USA)
This adaptor is fantastic. We actually get BETTER speed -- 115 Mbps -- than what we get with the ethernet adaptor directly, which is limited to 100 Mbps. It can pick up signals that are at least six houses away and don't even show up on my laptop, which has a Intel 2200BG card. Easy install even when switching to a new computer. Our is about nine months old and we're still very pleased. Definitely good bang for the buck.

If stealing cable is illegal, what about the internet?, March 13, 2006
By Ghenghis (Monvolia)
I'd heard about this booster from some friends, and thought it would be just the ticket to give my home wireless network some punch. Man, was I surprised when I installed this board.
When I fired this thing up, I picked up good strong signals from 3 other sources in my neighborhood, and at speeds of 11Mbps on all of them. WOW! And my home network is blazing fast now, no more drop outs or slow downloads. This adapter does everything it claims.
Maybe the best thing about this booster, and I am no fan of Linksys, is the ease of installation. Just remember to install the drivers first, then plug in the card and the 3 itsy bitsy mini-connectors for the antenna and voo-ah-lah...you're in bidness. If there is a real negative it is the antenna cable...at 3 meters it doesnt allow you a lot of freedom about where you put the thing. 5 handcuffs
