    Satisfied overall, September 21, 2007

Installation was straightforward and easier that I thought it might be. Performance is good with one exception. Every so often, maybe once a week, I lose the signal/connection for a period of five minutes or so. It comes back by itself and I don't have to do anything, except wait, so it's not a big problem but it does happen. I'm guessing that this is a problem with wireless signals in general and not this router but I don't know for sure.
Other than that it's great. Range is good, the router is at one end of the house and my laptop picks up the signal all the way over on the other side.

    Good buy, September 21, 2007

This router works good. I get a perfect signal from anywhere in my house. The setup of this product was easy for someone like me who has average computer skills.

This is junk, September 20, 2007
By John Greenwell (Stevens Point, WI USA)
I tried the wrt54g and after 4 days on the linksys chat line 2 phone calls and 1 replacement it would not stop resetting itself I upgraded the firmware and tried everything they had to fix the problem and it still doesn't work. It will work for a couple hours but when I wake up it says "you have changed networks" then when you run the advisor it won't even recognise the router. This junk don't waste your time or money. Get a wireless router from your internet provider and save yourself a big headache.

The most horrible wireless router I have ever had., September 18, 2007

Every other day I am disconnected from the internet. The reason? No, reason. The real reason is the Linksys not linking. You can change Linksys's the Customer center name to hell Center. -5 Stars

Easy to install, performance is great, September 17, 2007

This Linksys router replaced my 802.11.b router. With the "b" version, my work laptop would lose the VPN connnection regularly. With this faster "g" version, the VPN connection is solid. My daughter has good performance from her laptop as well. The installation was a breeze. I'm very pleased and will probably return to Linksys for the "n" version when the need arrises.

Easy setup, but needs improvement, September 15, 2007
By cvera8 (NY, NY)
The good news is that this router is quick and easy to setup and is pretty small, I have it ontop of my modem and barely notice it. The speed is also great and encrypting the router for my wireless laptop was apiece of cake.

The bad new is that I used to have my internet connection running for days or weeks on end. Now that I've installed the router, I have to reboot the router every 3 or 4 days because it becomes unresponsive after I've left it running for that long.

good reliable router, September 15, 2007

I brought Linksys to replace my old Netgear router. I am pleased - easy setup, no dropped connection, no reboots. I would recommend this router to my friends.

Great range, pretty easy set up.., September 12, 2007

I got this router in a basement for my mom who has her office at the opposite end of the basement in another room. It was pretty easy to set up aside from a problem I was having with the computer finding the router at first which was fixed by restarting the pc. Other than that the instructions are pretty self explanatory. I am a total newbie at networking and this was almost a cakewalk. If you have ever plugged in and set up your own computer and can follow kindergarden instructions, then you should be able to set this router up easily. I got the linkysys adapter with this which works decent but it cannot move a centimeter or the connection dies. I was actually surprised the signal reached all the way to the other end of the basement.

Returned Buffalo Wireless-g High-speed Router & Access Point 802.11G with Aoss and ordered this Linksys instead. The Buffalo was impossible to set up and their tech support was nonexistent. A child could set up this Linksys. Fantastic!

A previous Linksysrouter did not work well (wireless B 2.4 gigahertz). This one has been working great with no interruptions in service through 3 rooms at the opposite end of the house.

Not for the faint of heart, September 7, 2007

I originally bought this router in 2003 with plans to set up a wireless network in my home where three computers were operating on 3 different connections - two unique broadband links (Cable, DSL) and one on a 56K modem. The problem was that once I unpacked the router (and network access point) and set it up, all the ease-of-use that Linksys bragged about was anything but. Being tech savvy -- though not an IT technician -- amounted to nothing. Attempting to connected access points to the router on the other machines wouldn't work and there was no clear explanation how to do it and what things would help (software wise and network setup wise). Add to it a foreign "24-hour-support" line that kept repeatedly asking redundant technical questions that you had already explained in full and you had all the makings of a disaster.

A year later I did finally figure out the router enough to get things operational so that others could share the cable broadband connection in my household... But it wouldn't be long before the router itself would simply stop working (no lights, no power). Add this drawback to the poor tech support and poor setup documentation/explanation and I further have only bad thoughts with this router.

I'm currently using my second WRT54G router and may be close to having to replace this one as well due to poor manufacturing -- again. If that is the case, I will be scouring the market for a worthwhile wireless router and not this overhyped, overcomplicated, poorly functioning and mass-marketed piece of plastic that I've been using. Linksys may beat Belkin and D-link in a lot of categories but in customer satisfaction (at least for me) Linksys is nothing to write home about in their networking technology.

I love this Router. The range of the wireless extends pretty far, and I have not had a problem with the wireless connection thus far.

    Absolute junk, September 3, 2007
By To Be Simple
I have never had this much trouble with a computer product. I've owned this model for a couple years, and the first year went fairly smooth after finally getting it set up properly. The past few months have been filled with the router working off and on. Technical support is pretty much worthless considering it takes forever to talk to semi-English speaking people and they ask repetitive questions after I've given them the answer several times. I feel like putting my head through a wall after getting off tech support with these people. In any case, I have done multiple resets in recent weeks. After each reset the router will work for a few hours then quit working. I call tech support and go through the same procedure time after time. I'm still under warranty yet even after spending many hours on tech support the company is not going to repair it. They keep putting through the same useless procedure. I've had it and am going to just buy another brand of router and hope for the best. Incidentally, we had three really nice Linksys routers at work and they ALL crapped out within a year, so I am not feeling too good about this company's products. A friend of mine warned me about Linksys routers back when I bought mine, and now I know why.

    It sucks!, September 2, 2007
By www.mkgames.net (GA, USA)
I'm very good at setting things up with computers. I'm the person people come to to set up their PC stuff. I got one of these routers, boy does it suck! I don't know if it was a faulty unit or what, but when plugged up, the computer never could detect it.... not even when hard wired! Not only did it not transmit a wireless signal, it didn't route! I have a friend who's dad set up a linksis system. It works well, however, he is a professional in communications at bellsouth.... it STILL TOOK HIM, A PRO AN ENTIRE WEEK TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO CONFIGURE IT! Not for begginers or intermediates! Don't go with this company! there are plenty of GOOD ones out there!
