Easy to install, good signal strenght and almost effortless configuration (if you know what you're doing).
I took one star away cos it's been a hell of a time to plug it with my current modem, and my old PC, but it's not the router's fault!

Linksys wireless router, March 19, 2007

Practically impossible to setup using the instructions and setup disk that comes with the product. I even talked to someone directly from Linksys and all they did was tell me to download some files and then try to reinstall it again. They did not wait for me to verify that it worked. Well it did not work.

I had to get a friend of mine who knows computers to help me configure it. Turns out the router has to be specially set up to work with a DSL modem. Linksys has this information on their website, but it should be part of their standard setup disk.

Not at all impressed with their customer support.

Once I did get it set up, I am able to connect to the internet wireless with another laptop; which is why I bought it in the first place.

For ease of hookup and installation this is the wireless broadband router to use. The one wire in and one wire out at the modum was a breese, the AC power chord also plugs in.

Use the cd follow the instructions and you are up and running.

    A Great Upgrade, March 14, 2007
By S. Wykpisz (Campbellsville, Ky United States)
I've had a wireless B router that I used for my home networking needs in the past. But once I got this treasure, the performance and signal received away from my central computer improved over 50%. I would suggest buying this to improved your signal and performance of your home networking needs.

easy set up and great signal, March 12, 2007
By Sheepdog (Ohio)
initially this product was purchased to go along with my 360 it was easy to set up and worked well for a couple of weeks until the xbox 360 had to be sent into microsoft. I then purchased a ew laptop and with a built it wireless adapter the router is now in use again. It was easy to setup and gets a great signal anywhere in my home.

Fair Product; Deplorable Service!, March 12, 2007
By R. Oreilly (Florida)
Wireless router failed after 2 months of use. Linksys received my product for warranty exchange in early December 2006. It's now mid-March 2007 and they still haven't replaced it. I've made multiple phone calls and emails to Customer Service. Reps are very polite, but promises are empty. There's been no action, no follow-through, and no resolution. You have to start over each time you contact them. Linksys Customer Service is a big black hole.

Same bad luck here, March 10, 2007

I get the impression that either this works for you or it doesn't. It depends on a number of things, including your internet service. I use Road Runner and when I plug their cable modem into the WRT54G, it runs sometimes but sooner or later in any case, I lose the internet. I've searched online and tried any number of fixes, none of which work. When my modem is plugged into my 2004 era router, 802.11b, it works fine. Maybe the problem is mobile phone interference from the neighbors. Who knows? But it does not work for me and it might not for you.

    Solid, Reliable, March 10, 2007

Have purchased 3-4 of these for home/office/friends, etc. Have not had problems, Linksys is very current on BIOS updates, etc. And a solid well-known product.

I've never bought a wireless router before, so I looked around and read a lot of reviews. Across the board, this seemed like a good one, and it has not disappointed. I'd definitely recommend it.

    Go Linksys, March 9, 2007
By Thomas Hensman (Colorado, US)
There you go Linksys you did it again! Another fine product with amazing capabilities. The signal strength is awesome, I get a very good signal through two walls. And as usual extremely nice firmware features, very easy to use! Plus I couldn't find a better price anywhere!

I found this product to be exactly what I wanted, a dependable wireless router. It functions well, and was relatively easy to install. My only complaint would be that there was very very minimal information on how to set up security.

Very unhappy with WRTG - constant problems, threw two away replaced with D-Link, March 8, 2007
By Developer and Musician (San Francisco, California)
I've had Linksys router for several years, replaced an older version of WRT54G with a newer model, but both models were giving problems:

* DHCP did not work well with Mac OS_X computers. I had to manually assign IP addresses and DNS settings to make things work.

* The range of the router was really poor, and I had to purchase an additional anntennae for $50 to make the signal reach through several walls into my living room.

* Router would poorly support WPA and would hang the connection from time to time. I had to power-cycle the router to make my connections work again.

After finally getting fed up with the constant slew of problems, I replaced my router with D-Link DIR-625 and I couldn't be happier. The web admin interface is way easier to use, more up-to-date and offers a lot more features. I can easily assign static IPs on my LAN to some computers (such as network print server), and make others dynamic. I can forward ports from outside to local computers, and I can even have a server on the DMZ. This is SO much better router, than I am amazed that so many people still buy linksys.

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY, DON'T BUY THIS ROUTER.

Great value, Easy Setup, March 8, 2007
By G Jones (St. Louis, Missouri)
My hubby set this up in less than 30 minutes following the very easy to use setup CD. The cost of the router was the same as the cost of the service call to have our ISP come and set it up for us (but then we would have to rent THEIR router) so every month we will be saving!

    Excelent Product, March 8, 2007
By Rubbens (Alajuela, Costa Rica)
I work with this product for almost 2 years ago. And I think this is an excelente product for houses. I work at my home with Linksys Wireless Router and I can walk around my house with my laptop without losing signal.

    Linksys G Wireless Router - Excellent!, March 8, 2007

I had a ZyXel and it always messed up, but this product is fast, smooth, and easy to set up. No problems! I love it.

difficult setup, great performance, March 7, 2007
By Dr. James (Buffalo, NY)
As many have noted, the installer CD was useless. I also found the self-help website to be unhelpful. I had to use the chat feature to extract a phone number for phone support. While waiting on hold a message explains to download the self-help product- then a service provider came on who walked me throught the process and it sorted itself out with only one small bump in the road. It was very frustrating to have to update your firmware right out of the box, this seems wrong. But now that's it's set up I love it. It's just as fast as when I had the DSL wired right to the laptop, and I can now take the laptop anywhere in my 2 story house. Freedom!
