Quick Setup. Works Great!, December 3, 2006
By nolesworld (Land O Lakes, FL USA)
My netgear VPN wired router recently died and I decided to go wireless. I decided on this router because of the good price and features. I have to say I'm very impressed so far. I use this router to connect multiple computers to my works VPN from home and it works great. The wireless reception is excellent! Within 10 minutes I had setup all my computers and everything was working good. I'm looking forward to experimenting with the other features of this router and will update my comments if I run into any issues down the road but so far I'm very happy with this purchase.

Not Ready for Primetime - YET, October 12, 2006
By A. Real
The feature set vs. the price for this device is unbelieveable. However, the firmware was very buggy. Starting with version 1.0.20 of the firmware, there are only a couple of problems with it - most of the issues are involved when making IPSEC tunnels. Any public firmware release before that is crap. Wait for a new firmware release after 1.0.20 and see if the problems are still there before purchasing. I'm convinced the new firmware release will make the the WRV200 THE VPN Endpoint to get.
The biggest issues still left - all involving issues when IPSEC VPN tunnels are made: PPPoE connections cannot be used and pass traffic over the 1. vpn tunnel. 2. the wireless cannot be used or the unit will reboot over and over again.
This isn't buyer beware by any means. Just wait for newer firmware and the product will be worthwhile.

So far, ...works like a champ!, September 28, 2006
By MagicPC (I'm not entirely sure...hmmm)
The latest firmware is now v1.0.20. So far, the product is working as advertsied utilizing the VPN tunnel, router, and Wi-Fi. I would suggest that any of the earlier reveiwers that may still own this product, update there firmware to the latest firmware. In addition, also update the VPN client to the latest version supplied on the wrv200 website from Linksys.
I will continue to test the product further for stability, and post any new findings here.
11/09/06 Well, I have now been using this product in a WAN environment in two locations for well over a month. Both routers are performing flawlessly. At this point, I am not sure why the other reviewies have had such problems unless it was due to earlier versions of the firmware. I can say that with the current firmware, and the current Linksys QuickVPN client, that the routers are working as advertised. I hope this helps.

Isn't even ready for beta testing... EXTREMELY BUGGY, August 10, 2006
By scotdwg (Washington, DC)
Did linksys even test this product before release? The web interface is EXTREMELY buggy. Settings are randomly lost. The remote web interface will stop working all of a sudden and throw all kinds of javascript errors. The administration password is reset or randomly lost. Basically this router's features are useless because there is no way to administer them. Don't waste your money on this product.

very very unstable, July 24, 2006
By dealin
This product has a great set of features and a great UI but it does not work. I am using the 1.012 firmware and it is constantly rebooting. I just logged in remotely to it and lost my connection and can't regain it. I setup 5 IPSEC VPN connections and that made it even more unstable plus it constantly disconnects the VPN connections. At this point all I have to do is ping the other VPN routers and it crashes. It replaced a Linksys VP41 and an old Microsoft wireless router (setup in WAP mode). That environment was extremely stable. I partially bought this Wireless router because it claims to have extended wireless range. Funny thing is the range is worse then the old Microsoft wireless router. How can that be when the Microsoft router has only one small antenna. I have used tons of routers in the past and is by far the most unstable one I have ever used. I hope this message gets to Linksys management and they overhaul the product and release a firware update asap. If the firmware release fixes all of the above problems I will make sure to update my post until then please take my advice and not buy this product. Help this review helps others.

Very unstable, July 16, 2006
By Yacurmana (Rosario, Argentina)
The router has very good capabilites, but also the wrv200 has too many bugs. (lost of settings, lost of access to the web interface at random periods, etc. ) It seems very unstable. I read about similar problems from others owners of wrv200 in forums and message boards. I'm waiting from linksys a new firmware that addresses the problems, because It's unreliable to work in a production environment.

Wow ! It's amazing ! Fast VPN with pretty price, June 23, 2006
By Wala Tan
I bought one Linksys WRV54G before and wanna get another VPN router to create VPN Tunnel connections between my home and office. WRV200 works pretty good on my position. I also generate 4 BSSID for different usages. I like it indeed. I am gonna try it's QoS later, I don't want my game to be blocked because one business call.

Helpful Multiple SSID and NAT-Traversal VPN, June 23, 2006
By james
I have a WRV200 for my office, wireless connection with WPA2 just works fine and its handy VPN is good as well. I've began consider where to buy another one, and just put it for my house networking.
It might be too many reboot processes, but this is a new product in Linksys wireless vpn router, I would believe that Linksys will have new firmware to fix this problem if they really care about customers's feedback.
This is a cheaper stuff, and it is also a combination of wireless and IPSec VPN. Compare this ($67) one's vpn with at least "$150" RV0x series, wrv200 seems to just miss some minor functions. I also feel its vpn configuration and vpn summary page are very fast and helpful as a vpn router.

Fast VPN, everything else is lame., June 21, 2006
By Tyler Durden (Miami, Florida)
PROS: Fast VPN, easy configuration GUI, nice chassis.
CONS: Too many reboots after for many minor reconfigurations. You cannot change the antennas! (At least, not like you used to with Linksys (SMA), I have yet to open it, but it isn't possible from the outside. Buggy WPA2 implementation, I am constantly losing connectivity (tried various different NICs and configs); the culprit was the Linksys (as of firmware 1.0.12). No split DNS option for VPN (this exists with the latest firmware on the RV082).
As a final thought, I can't say I understand Linksys, especially with regards to the SMA antennas - this is something most enthusiasts go for, yet they removed this flexibility. (Not unlike the non-Linux WRT54GL vs. GS). To Linksys: why alienate your customers by removing our ability to mod this router, when all you want is to sell these devices?
