Vista-Compatible? Not really..., August 16, 2008
By user (Connecticut, USA)
I tried for about an hour to install this on my Vista desktop, with no success. I followed every step of the included instructions, but could not get it to work.
Also, this device is not plug-and-play, a feature that I think every modern computer product should have. To be fair, however, other wireless network adapters do not have this feature, either.

Linksys WUSB54GSC wireless adapter, August 12, 2008
By user (Mechanicsville, Va. USA)
I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it to others. Just remember that at one point in the software installation the computer using the wireless network needs to be physically connected to the wireless router via an ethernet cable. After that, you just disconnect it from the wireless router, set it up wherever you want, and have at it.

not worth my time, August 5, 2008
By user (Denver, CO)
I have a late 2002 Dell Optiplex desktop running Windows XP Pro SP3. I was using a Linksys USB wifi adapter, but ever since I've had it I've had my connection fail, sometimes as often as every 10 minutes or so. I decided to try something new, and since this had the highest score of the ones at the store, I gave it a go.
It wasn't worth it. After installing the software, and plugging in the adapter, the software program told me I was connected, but Windows said it had no connectivity. Tried repairing the connection, restarting, uninstalling and reinstalling. Same issue. Tried to use Windows Hardware Wizard to install drivers and got a warning that this hardware hadn't passed Windows flag testing. Interesting. Maybe its SP3, maybe my desktop is just too old, but either way I had no luck with this product.

Works well and installs very easily, but, it doesn't always hold a strong signal. I have a Linksys WRT54GS router in a room 10 feet away and sometimes the best connection I can get is 11.0Mbs despite the signal strength never dropping below excellent. I would recommend this for most applications but not if you are gaming.

I'm glad I waited to review it, June 11, 2008
By user (Bellevue, WA)
I initially fell in love with this thing. My computer was too petite and filled with other junk for me to put in a wireless card, but has a plethora of usb slots, so I figured this was the wireless adapter for me!
For the first three months it was pure heaven. Fast speeds, always connected, even when I forgot and left it on for days!
And then the honeymoon is over.
Now this saucy little tart will connect me to the tubes for an hour, two if I am lucky. Maybe I need a life, but REALLY what I need is to be able to play my games without the internet crapping out on me. Every other computer in the network has no problem, laptop, xbox360, pc number two.
This little tramp however wants me to REBOOT MY COMPUTER to get back on the internet.
Upon further research, the is a well known problem. The solution? Go out and get a divorce. Or, you know, a REAL wireless card.
Luckily, I waited until the honeymoon was over to write a review. Hopefully she's not sabotaging me right now, so I can't post this.

Warranty Service from Linksys is Horrible!, June 9, 2008
By user (Hawaii, USA)
I spent over an hour troubleshooting it before they finally told me it was probably bad, even after I told them I used it on three separate computers! I am waiting for over three weeks now and the replacement is still on backorder! They refuse to send a new one. Tech support is difficult to understand because it is in a foreign country. Just a warning if yours breaks while under warranty! Just an update (06/26/08), I got a replacement one that lasted all of two weeks after waiting for almost a month! Here we go RMA all over again!

Excellent Improved My Wireless Reception, June 9, 2008
By user (Florida)
This increased my wireless reception significantly because of the extension cord positioning. Should only be used with a Linksys Router. A worthwhile investment for low or poor signal on your laptop.

did not work in my desktop PC; tried it in my laptop to be sure and it didn't work in it either. dell support did everything possible and it stil wouldn't work

Good purchase, May 7, 2008
By user (New York, USA)
Easy to install and no problems connecting to my home network. Speed is a little slow and rarely gets above 36kbps compared to the 56kbps advertised. Fine for email and internet surfing but not so good for online gaming.

Plays well with Vista, March 28, 2008
By user (Boulder, CO USA)
I bought this Linksys wireless adapter to along with the Linksys wireless router. Initially, it worked like a champ then it started to get buggy after a few months of constant use. The adapter had a difficult time finding a signal and if it did, the signal was weak. I left my computer on hibernate mode but it seemed to leave the adapter still running. After turning off my computer when I wasn't using it everyday, the card seemed to go back to its happy go lucky ways!

Decent enough, March 24, 2008
By user (Italy)
Does not pick up a real strong signal from my router downstairs which is also a linksys. Probably would have bought one with an antennae instead.

I have no complaints with this product. Purchased it about a year ago for an older laptop. The installation was easy and I have not had any issues with it operating poorly or not efficiently.

quick and easy setup, works great, November 24, 2007
By user (USA)
Well, like any product, there are those who love it and those who hate it. Our family likes this wireless G adapter. My husband bought it, and he doesn't know much at all about computers. He plugged it in and Voila! He had internet upstairs and the wireless router is downstairs. He has used it for about 9 months now with no problems and we are buying one for our son's laptop becuase the internal in his just went bye-bye. Based on our experiences with this item, I recommend this as a low cost way to get wireless on your desktop or laptop.

Not good, October 30, 2007
By user
I have the router that it's recommended by linksys, with speed booster, the speed is not very good and the signal is week and they must be like 6 meters apart, dont recommend this product, although it does the job.

Better Than Desktop Antennae, September 30, 2007
By user (San Francisco, CA.)
I had used the internal card with antennae before, but had connectivity problems with it being behind the computer. I disabled that and purchased this antennae with the cable. The lengthy cable gives me the option of moving the adapter around until I can get optimal connectivity. As far as the "Speedbooster" goes; I have no idea if it works or not. I suspect it is just a gimmick. Otherwise this is a nice product.
