This wireless adapter works great with the 360 as well.

Everything is my room is wireless so when i saw this product it was a must buy. It works just as well as a cable, just costs more ;)

Remove the wires!, January 18, 2007
By D. Tagtmeier
Having the Microsoft Wireless-G Xbox Adapter has cleaned up the room. We no longer have the wire from the living room to the bed room, all 40 feet of it is gone. It was easy to hook up and after a month of use we have had no problems.

Expensive but it is easy to setup unlike the D-Link adapter that burned itself up in short order. Recommended.

It took us a while to get this hooked up (user error). We had the wrong encryption level set which was causing the error. But now that it is working we are very happy with the product. Signal strength is good even though the modem is upstairs. No dropping of connections.

not that great for the 360 or the original, September 6, 2006

the reception on the original xbox was horrible even with a network extender, it was always dropping the connection.

but on the 360 it had one bar but it never dropped a connection, but it was a little lagy

Works as a network bridge too, August 12, 2006
By www.serviceandintegrity.com (Chandler, AZ)
Please read all of the comments and then take these points into account as well:

* This can function as a bridge for other devices (i.e. other computers), not just for the Xbox 360 or Xbox. Setup may require an Xbox though (not sure about that). I'm actually writing this review while connecting wirelessly with my laptop using this adaptor as a wireless bridge.

* I've had this for about 3 years (if memory serves correctly), and I am happy with it. I used it on my Xbox for a couple of years and now I use it with my Xbox 360.

* It isn't future proof if you are looking for advanced security (beyond WEP) or looking to upgrade to 802.11n. That's the only reason that I dropped a star.

* You might get a better price using a network bridge (i.e. a general networking product, not one explicitly labeled as a gaming bridge), but this adaptor has better compatibility that the bridges that I've tried. Setup is easy with this product compared to others.

    Works Great!, August 9, 2006
By D. Groesbeck (Utica, MI USA)
I received this adapter for Christmas along with my original X-box 2 years ago. I've accendently dropped the thing like 20 times and it still works great as ever! Strong signal even 3 rooms away, pretty much plug and play, works with anything, x-box, ps2, 360 and PC. Great adapter!

Works great, never have had any major problems.
--I just wouldn't reccommend using this to go up a level in your house, signal may be too weak.

I Need to Amend My Previous Review, July 9, 2006
By Tech Dude (PA)
I need to amend my previous review. If you are going to use this as a Media Center extender with the XBOX, take note that MSFT reccomends that you do all of that on a seperate network (Wireless A), while you do your computer functions on Wireless G. Therefore, it might make sense to get an A/G gaming adpater if you have future plans to get a computer with Windows Media Center and you intend to connect wirelessly.

Works with Xbox 360 too!, April 14, 2006
By riffraff67 (San Francisco, CA)
This worked flawlessly with my Xbox when I bought it two years ago, and it was great to discover that this works with the Xbox 360 as well. If you already have this, instead of investing another $99 for the official 360 wireless gadget, just carry this over to your new system after you configure it to your wireless network through your Xbox. Heartily recommended for either system.

Expensive but transferred to my Xbox 360 very easily, April 6, 2006

I would recommend this adapter to anyone, I have been using it for about 1 1/2 years now without a single problem. It is really easy to setup, and so small that you don't even notice it.

This works with XBOX 360, March 29, 2006
By T. Holz (Toledo, Ohio United States)
I hooked this up to my new 360 and it works perfect and required no setup. Don't waste your money on the 360 adapter if you own this. Once you migrate your xbox live account to a 360 you can't use it on your old xbox anyway. I couldn't find anything that said this was compatible, but it works just fine.

    Worked for 2 weeks, March 3, 2006
By David C. Hank
If you like being on the phone while kid sits and waits get one. I quit now wife has spent 4 hours two days in a row after 2 months of membership have laps. This is a joke and a waste of time and money. Xbox support wanted a coference call with my Inernet provider, LOL. I have 3 laptops all wireless and no issues, need a coference call with xbox management!!!!

It works, but security is tricky, October 5, 2005
By sofsoldier (Pacifica, CA)
This is the only product I know of that works with the X-Box. It's overpriced, but it does work well. I am all for less clutter so the price was worth it for me.

The only issue with this device is you cannot change the security channel. What I mean is that I like to have my 128bit key on channels 2,3 or 4 but you MUST use channel 1 for this to work with your router (and your router must also have its 128bit key on channel 1).

Other than that, this is another fine hardware product from Microsoft.

Save your money. Buy the B variants, July 31, 2005
By A. Punnoose (Boston, MA)
Don't buy this overpriced adapter from microsoft. The reasons for the extra $50 is the microsoft brand and the g format. You can play online without either of those. Buy the logitech 802.11b (wga11b). its half the price and does exactly the same thing. Don't worry about what the sales rep at best buy said, hes just trying to get you to spend the extra money.

Response to previous person, July 10, 2005
By Christopher (Brooklyn, NY USA)
I was reading this article to see if this device would be a good idea for my xbox. But the person before me asked a question which I would like to try to answer. Just to say I have the same router which works great. Now about the product. You can plug the xbox direct into this router with a ethernet cable if its close by. But if you want to put it somewhere else in your home you would buy this product. According to what I heard and my experience with other wireless products you just plug this device into your xbox find your network on the xbox controls (Also the xbox is suppoest to set itself up with this device) set your settings and play. Thats about it. It also doesnt matter that the makers are different the products should be compatiable because they both use the b and g standard as does your router. But before buying look at the things it says and compare to your router to be 100% sure you wont have problems getting the devices to communicate. Anyway hope this helps. Also before you buy this product you should shop around more on this website for similar products because you might find the same thing by a different maker for less. Anyway good luck.

Astounding. Yet for how much?, June 26, 2005
By Technology Reviewer (NJ)
This product is very amazing and helpful. It will only interfere with your other wireless items if they are on the same channel. Consult your wireless router guide to find out how to switch channels. The only thing odd about it is that it costs 100$. You can find other wireless adapters for a lot less.

Xbox adapter interfering with other wireless items, June 11, 2005
By Josh Staheli (Hollywood CA)
My xbox adapter was easy to install and works well except that it every once in a while messes up every other wireless device around it. Now that I know what it is its not that big a deal I just have to reset it. But it was interfering with both of the macs in the house ability to connect to the router and then both of my logitech wireless controllers went out. It took me a long time to figure out exactly what it was. Other than that I would give it 5 stars.

i realllllly want xbox live (but i dont have an xbox). I'm thinking seriously about purchasing an xbox with the xbox live starter kit and a few live games. but i need to know something. if i buy this adapter, what else do i need? if my computer is upstairs and the xbox will be downstairs, do i need this and a wireless router and an adapter for the pc? or just this and a router? or just this? or something more? PLEASE answer my question, it could mean you have a new competitor on xbox live.
