| Description: |
| Want to network your home or small office? Torn between the flexibility of wireless access and the speed of wired connections? Look no further. Motorola's Wireless Broadband Router, the WR850G, is built with both an 802.11g wireless access point and a 4-port Ethernet router. It's wireless. It's wired. It's the foundation of a truly customized network and it's full of options.Connected users can share files, pictures, peripherals, printers and more with everyone else on the network. Even better, by connecting a broadband modem (cable, DSL or other), they can also share a single high speed Internet connection. That's everyone online, all surfing different sites, all at the same time. |

Motorola WR850G, May 1, 2004
By Reviewer18 (Dade, Fl. USA)
I tried Belkin, Linksys and D-Link before a review of this router led me to purchase and try it. It is the best and easiest to set up. I was up and running in 10 minutes with a two minute call to their help line, which is open 24/7. Both my powerbook and thinkpad recognized the network immediately and I am typing this review in my kitchen which is over 60 feet from the router. Try this before you buy any other WI FI router and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Excellent decission, March 23, 2004
By unknown
Yes, i made an excellent decission. The router worked right out of the box with no problems. It's easy to install and you even get the UTP cable needed to plug the router in the PC. The only thing missing in this first step was the manual installation guide, that is supposed to be printed and it just wasnt there. I tried to use the automatic installation but it just didnt work. And it also didnt say WHY my PC wasnt compatible, but i thought that was a mistake. So i read the pdf guide for manual installation and everything worked like a charm. One word of notice: i was expecting the router to connect to the internet right after pluging the router, but it doesnt work that way. You first need to configure it. After everything was installed, i turned on my two wireless machines (one with a standard wireless nic) and they all connected with no problems. I know motorola isnt known for its wireless broadband products, but it they really work perfectly well.

A great little router, January 9, 2004
By unknown
I was skeptical of buying this router. Primarily because I couldn't find any reviews on it. But I like Motorola products. I decided to buy it. I must say that this router is great. It's small and stylish so it doesn't take up a lot of clutter. It has a lot of features such as port triggering and virtual servers and parental controls among all the other features you would expect from a wireless broadband router. It also includes WPA support with either TKIP or AES encryption. I also get excellent signal and quality throughout my house. Too bad the other manufacturer's don't make routers as good as this one. So if your looking for a stable router, you can't go wrong with the WR850G.
