This modem is great, August 14, 2008
By Jason Davies (CA)
This modem/router is awsome, I Always have been a sceptic about integrated devices, but i have no regrets on this purchase. Configuring is very easy and the distance of range is true to there word. Also if you have a desktop computer, that you wish to be wireless, the Netopia TER/GUSB2-N1 works perfect with that router, no problems, none, 5 stars on both products hands down.

I purchased this Motorola SURFfboard wireless modem and router for my Mac laptop. Although the enclosed software was not compatible for Apple, the website contained all of the information needed for installation. It is indeed a fantastic product and I would recommend it to anyone who want a wireless combination for internet access.

Love my Wireless Modem!, August 3, 2008
By Math Teacher (Arkansas)
I have had this modem now for a couple of years and it still works great. We have a three-story home and the wireless modem is located on the second floor. It never drops signal on any floor and the unit is not so large. Also, it is a great value because you don't have to by a router, it has the modem and router all in one! Definitely recommend to anyone who wants to buy a modem and router and not sign a contract with the Internet/phone company!

I have been using a Toshiba modem and a Netgear router for a couple years
and always had to do network cycles. This modem is the easyist and most efficiant unit there is. Very easy setup and much faster than what I had. Works great for 2 wireless laptops.

    Solid value!, July 7, 2008
By Nicholas A. Sanchez (Northern California)
Bought this for Comcast internet service... works like a charm, after about one month, I have not had any issues and solid performance. It is easy to configure and it has all the features (and more) that I'd expect from a cable modem. I easily recommend this as a home network solution.

Replaced my old WCG200 with this and was so easy to set up. Been going strong now for a month or so with no problems whatsoever - and it's fast.

So far so good, June 29, 2008
By K. Campbell (Michigan, USA)
I purchased this product so I could take my laptop anywhere in the house and porch and use the internet. I do business on the internet and watch movies from Netflix. So far this product has performed well. The initial set up was fairly straight forward, as much as things can be with Charter cable internet, I was up and running in less than 30 minutes. I would recommend this product and have to friends.

    Good Buy!, June 23, 2008
By irish_angel (Chandler, AZ)
This product is a good buy. The only issue I had was with the set up details to get onto the wireless internet. However, customer service walked me through that and I didn't have to wait on the phone for a long time to talk to someone. The guy was real helpful and fixed the problem immediatly. I have not had a problem yet with this unit. My internet is always on and secure. I highly reccomend this product to anyone. It has a wireless modem, router and firewall protection all packed into a very slim unit that can fit pretty much anywhere.

    Motorola SBG900 review, June 3, 2008
By corn larry (Las Vegas, NV)
I received this product promptly and in great condition. The price was fair. I had trouble setting it up and called the customer service number. They were great and guided me through the process. I had to do this twice and they were great both times. I recommended this product to a friend of mine and he ended up buying one and enjoys it too. I would recommend it. I am not really technically savy but this is working great. Easy to install and use.

excellent modem and wireless modem, June 2, 2008
By J. Hollon (Albany, OH USA)
Excellent! This is one of the best modem/wireless network I've ever work with. Set up was a breeze, setting up password security was extremely easy and it took less then 20 minutes from start to finish.

Only problem I had was getting my stupid ISP to connect me back on line. They kept saying it would take a week :(

Once install it keeps working and working well, May 31, 2008

Was unable to get it to work on my own but when I got on the phone with the support tech we sorted it all out and he made sure I was all set and running. Have never had a problem since. Great Modem Gateway.

works as advertised, May 27, 2008
By S. Hanzelin
Although costing more than a standard modem this unit works as advertised. It offers a 2 way firewall watching both inbound and outbound packets. Most router firewalls are inbound only thus some setup is required for products like steam that need special outbound ports opened. A simple Google search for this modem and steam ports showed me how to fix the problem. The wireless is good not the best but has the latest encryption formats and I get signal thru the house. I have no connection issues to my laptop or playstation 3 using WPA encryption. I have been using this modem combo for about 2 months with no issues except the firewall ports. I do not see closed non standard ports as a problem as I appreciate the better firewall, verses my old router firewall/wireless that only blocked inbound ports. If you have cable buy this modem over renting.

Easy installation, great performance, May 20, 2008
By albmee (Palm Beach, FL)
This is my fist foray into wireless networking and I simply followed the suggestions of other reviewers in regards to being a Comcast customer, called them up with MAC ID and it went through without a glitch and I returned my rental modem the same evening.

Getting to setting up my own secure networking profile, I encountered minor difficulties which were easily remedied by calling Motorola, unlike some of the reviews I saw here, our tech was local (if you catch my drift, which nowadays is rare) and helpful, shared a few tips with me on how to understand the settings under my networking profile.

For ease of use, top of the line security protocols and consistency in signal strength around the home and even on separate floors, my signals never varies lower than 84%-97%. I recommend highly in my humble opinion.

Motorola SURFboard is a winner, May 9, 2008
By pearlman (Portland, Oregon)
I recommend this for use with comcast subscribers in our area, it is easy to set up and has a web based administration page that even those with little experience can navigate. I am pleased with my purchase even though it cost a few extra dollars over other cable modems compatible with comcast's system here. Check with your cable system pages to see which modems work with thier system before you purchase.

No problems with Gateway, May 3, 2008
By sixftflame (Peoria, AZ)
While I have never had a cable modem, or a router, before, I purchased this one because of the good reviews I had read about it. Even the cable guy was impressed, when he came to hook up my high speed, which I took for a good sign. I have had high speed internet for a couple of weeks, now, and I have had some problems, but they are caused by Cox Cable, not by my Motorola SURFboard. I haven't even had to read the booklet that came with it, because I've had no problems with it.
I'm not a techniphobe, but I don't understand a lot of the new products and features that are available for use anymore, however, I would recommend purchasing this modem, any day.

    Motorola SBG 900, April 27, 2008
By R. Nicholls (Phoenix AZ)
Excellent product, great speed and OK to install. replaces both modem and separate router, convenient to use just one item to perform both purposes. I don;t understand why other manufacturers don't do the same and combine products, you cant use one without the other so why not just combine. The SBG 900 is a smart choice to simplify, combine and improve speed and access.

Satisfied Customer of the SBG900, April 8, 2008
By B. Schueller (Rockford, IL)
This product installed without any issues. The SBG900 was recommended to me by COMCAST 2nd tier technical staff. After installation the product performed as expected.

Unfortunately, I had to switch to COMCAST Business because of my Vonage phone service and personal mail servers not being able to work properly with COMCAST residential. As a result, COMCAST provides their own router and I require a wireless Access Point. Motorola does not offer a wireless Access point. The best solution is a NETGEAR WPN802 v2. This works great as well for those that run into the same problem.

Works just like it should with no problems..., March 6, 2008
By David Rueter (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA USA)
This is a nice little cable modem / wireless router. I didn't use the included software to set it up--just accessed it via a browser with the default IP address and password. No surprises, limitations or disappointments: it worked just as expected.
