Worked perfectly, November 16, 2007
By Donna J. Warshaw (Florida, usa)
I bought this card for our notebook computer which we sometimes travel with. There was no problem with installation, it was quick and easy. The card worked perfectly as soon as I was near a wi-fi station and guided me through the connection using my At&T fast access dsl account. Highly recommended.

Provides what the LinkSys card would not. Connection speed and range. Easy installation of software. Great product.

Finally a wireless card that works with Linux!, September 15, 2007
By tim (Viera, FL USA)
After installing just about every linux distribution there is and trying 3 separate cards, I finally found a combination that works out of the box. SUSE Linux Enterprise Distribution for Workstations (SLED10) will automatically detect this card during installation. Even though the specs for this wireless card only say WEP 64 or 128, the SLED10 driver will also allow you to configure it for WPA Personal. Make sure your router is broadcasting the SSID name during the installation. Once you have the card configured and running, you can make the SSID name invisible again.

Netgear WG511T Super G Wireless PC Card, September 7, 2007
By www.tcsda.net (Alma, Michigan)
The Reviews I read all seemed to say one thing - Speed and Large Area of Reception. Well, it is true! It'll work anywhere in my home and even outside! I have gone as far away as I cared to walk outside and I still had reception and it has worked flawlessly from get go - My laptop is a Compaq 1200XL-118 running Windows 2000 Pro. I found out newer is not better - sometimes older is tried and true. My Wireless Router is also a Netgear. I have 3 computers direct wired to it and now a laptop that works super! with no wires. My Router supports: 2 PC's XP Pro & W98se, 1 Debian 4.0, and now 1 Compaq laptop on Win2000Pro. Plus a PPC Mac OS 8.6.1

Workin Fine, September 4, 2007
By EJ (Washington, DC USA)
I use this card with my Linksys super G router and it all seems to work very fast with OK range. I did have some problems with setting up the router, but once I set up the wireless router to be behind my old wired router (instead of replacing it) I have had no network problems with the wired PCs, wireless laptop, or Wii! Thank goodness for effective standards organizations!

Good, functional card, May 18, 2007
By C. Eldredge (Upstate NY, USA)
This is my only wireless adapter, so I don't have anything for comparison. The installation was straightforward, and the card immediately connected with my wireless router. My one complaint is that several times it has disconnected from the router, necessitating a reboot. For routine web-surfing it is not noticeably slower than an ethernet connection. It is doing its job.

Works great - New Driver fixed the XP blue screens, March 22, 2007
By LithKnight (Stamford, CT USA)
I gave this product only 4 stars because it took a while for the manufacturer to get me a driver that doesn't crash. Now that I have a decent driver I love this card.
I replaced some older wireless gear with the NetGear 108 super G stuff. The super G stuff is great. The range is better than my old 802.11 gear and the speed is awesome. My wireless router is in the basement and one of my computers is 2 floors up and I still get good speeds.
If you have one of these cards, just go to the manufacturer's web site and get the most recent driver. They have fixed the blue screen problem and now this card works great.

Works with Linux out of the box, March 21, 2007
By Programmer (Yardley, PA USA)
I needed a wireless card for Dell Latitude notebook. The complication was that it should work with both XP and Linux (Kubuntu). This one does that beautifully.

works great!!!, March 9, 2007
By B. Fabella
Very easy to install. Very easy to manage. I use this with my Super G wifi router. We live in s small place so I'm not so sure about the range, but for me it works great.

Works out of the box and as advertised, March 8, 2007

The setup is simple, the range is very good, and it works right out of the box. I highly recommend this wireless card. You can't do better at this price.

Poor quality, Poor support, a bad experience--stay away, February 2, 2007
By Stephen Mulrooney (Brooklyn, New York)
I have a4 computer network in my office, assembled by an IT team I payed over $10,000.00 in consulting fees to organize. I need equipment that works. I have no time to be fiddling with a toy. This card has been a disaster. From the moment it was installed, it started blue screening with stop errors related to the drivers. Calls to support did not help. Even Netgear doesnt know why this card doesn't work . I have downloaded new drivers, Quadrupled the RAM to 2 Gigs, and hired a network technician to fix it. It routinely causes a stop error, and all data is lost. This slows down my business. Do yourself a favor and dont buy this.

Never buying from Netgear again, December 21, 2006
By The Captain (Los Angeles, CA USA)
Bought this card and it worked fine for a couple months. Then it started dropping the connection an average of every couple of minutes. I tried every fix I could find on the internet and nothing. So I tried their email support -- they gave me a bunch of standard cut-and-paste responses until they finally said they were upgrading it to a tier 2 technician, whereupon they quit talking to me (I've yet to hear back from them, despite repeated emails). So I tried calling -- they said it's a software issue and I can either go back to email support (remember: no word for over a month despite repeated emails) or I can get premium support for $32.99 for 15 minutes -- which is asinine since if I use tech support for half an hour, it'd cost me more than what I spent on the card.
If you buy this card, pray that nothing ever goes wrong with it -- if it does, you're screwed. For my part, based on this card and pretty much every experience I've had with Netgear, I'm never buying from them again.

So far so good, but..., December 21, 2006
By Mark (Chicago)
I have had this card for a few days. The software was easy to install and so far it has worked great. However, I am disappointed that the package did not include a protective case for the card. My old Linksys card had such a case. How are we supposed to protect the card when it isn't in the laptop?

Terrific card in my old A20m, November 17, 2006
By West Coast Paddler (Pacific NW)
I'm a D-Link refugee and this card has been just great. My home connection has been very good, I'm in a basement and have no idea where the router is!
Swapping wireless networks is a breeze as I travel around - it can be easily configured to automatically find one wherever you are.
Very reliable, quality construction, easy to install and no problems with W2K.
This is my 2nd Netgear card; also have the FA511 wired adapter about which I can say the same things (except the wireless bits).
Definitely recommended and worth the extra cost if there is any.
** a late addition. My laptop battery gets drained very quickly as of late. It's older so maybe it's best before date has been passed or maybe it's because this network card sucks the juice out of it. Wouldn't surprise me. There are configuration settings though in the card s/w to reduce the transmit power of the card which may reduce the battery drain.

Awesome product, August 2, 2006

easy installation and wireless is great. I had the modem and router in my living room and the signal strength was excellent there and was very good in all other rooms in our 2 bedroom apartment.

A great wireless PC card from a great company!!, July 4, 2006
By R.K. (Honolulu, HI USA)
After purchasing this wireless PC card, I discovered that my Toshiba Satellite laptop already had a built in one. But guess what? I found that trying to set it up (which you have to do using the default Windows program) was a HELL of a lot harder than it ended up being with the program that came with the Netgear WG511T itself. So, at the end of the day, if I had to choose, I'd definately take anything that Netgear puts out any day of the week. Unlike the boys up in Redmond, WA (that's where Microsoft is located), they seem to design their stuff with the common civilian in mind. ;-)
Anyway, I got this wireless PC card to (with the help of the Netgear WGT624v3 wireless router I have) allow my laptop to wirelessly connect to the internet from anywhere in my house. It works great!! I definately got my money's worth when I purchased this!!

best wifi card 4 linux, June 1, 2006
By Stanley Ardon (Los Angeles, CA USA)
I have tried many brands of wifi cards on linux and this card seems to work best (at least for me). No special configuration, no third party utilities. Just plug in, configure card using linux built in utilities and done. This card is awsome.

Easy install, steady operation at home and on the road..., May 28, 2006
By 8-tracks to 802.11 (Central Maryland, USA)
I purchased this in a bundle with a Netgear WGT 624 router (the router to replace an router that had stopped working). The router/card package were deeply discounted at brick and mortar store (hint: "that was easy"), so I figured it would be a nice way to upgrade my laptop's wireless data transfer rate (at least while working at home with Netgear's proprietary higher data rate format).
Set up and install were trouble-free, and the card immediately recognized my network (and many of my neighbors') and was connected right away. I've since used it in multiple hot spots (802.11g and 802.11b), and it has detected and connected with no problems.
I seem to go through Netgear routers like some people go through light bulbs, but I've enjoyed great success with their wireless adapters (both PCMCIA, PCI and USB interfaces). I'm enjoying the faster data rates at home and the ease of connection on the road.
In the world of wireless products (routers and adapters): just like with cars, anybody can sell you a lemon. There are complicated hardware and software environments and you never know what's going to work or not until you plug it in...this one was a winner for my needs.
