DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM, IT IS JUNK., August 14, 2008
By user (Lake Forest IL)
My husband has a computer business and has purchased 5 of these devices for various customers. Each and every one of them have failed. Three of them within the 3 months Netgear will provide free support for and two of them after 1 year.
When they work they don't work so well, a lot of disconnects, and network not found. Working with support stated that too many wireless networks in a congested area will cause this. Understandable, but hardware failures are not understandable.
Out of the five of them, Netgear has replaced the three that failed withing the 90 period and they have been taken out of service since then. There were too many network disconnects to be useful.
When they fail the power light comes on, but nothing else. No network light when the cat5 cable is plugged into it, nor does the wireless work on the device either.
My husband made the mistake of purchasing them when they were fairly new and paid over 170.00 per. What a mistake. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS AS IT IS JUNK.

Easy set up?, July 4, 2008
By user
Mine must just be crap out of the box - It seems easy enough to set up yet connects to only another access point print server (when lucky - Netgear, this one was a piece of cake) not the network router/ wireless/ Internet (also Netgear Rangemax Next Gigabit)

Like many others this thing just died., March 14, 2008
By user (San Diego, CA)
I've had two of these the first one just stopped working one day so we got another. (A fluke, right?) The second just died. Less than 6 months old and it's scrap. During the time that it worked, I loved it. Unfortunately, it's too expensive to consider disposable. Also unfortunate is the lack of a comparable product.

Another double failure, February 9, 2008
By user (Columbus, MI USA)
I purchased my original WN802T in Sept 2006 which failed April 2007. Netgear advanced shipped the replacement (cost me about $17). The replacement failed around Nov 2007. Luckily I also have the WNR834 which is the router version which keeps plugging away. However, I like the flexibility of the access point better. Will try my luck at getting Netgear to replace the second failed unit also

Mine failed also, February 2, 2008

Mine worked fine for about 5 months then failed suddenly. I have not sent it back yet - probably will not bother based on the number of people reporting failures.

Very unreliable unit., December 23, 2007
By user (USA)
When the WN802T works, its great. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work very often. My first one died completely when about 6 months old. This was replaced by Netgear under warrenty, then the replacement died another 3 months later. That was replaced also under warrently, and the third one is now started to act-up, disconnecting and needing resets for no reason.
If you search the NetGear support forums there are a number of folk reporting similar experiences - seems like there is a basic design issue with the WN802T.

Not even a year, November 23, 2007
By user (Sacramento, CA United States)
Purchased the access point in January of 2007 and it failed November 2007. The access point worked find until its last day. But I expect more then 11 months of service from wireless network products.

just couldn't get it to work to n speeds, otherwise great, October 13, 2007
By user (tucson, AZ)
This access point is very easy to set up and configure, but I couldn't get anything higher the 54 mbps speeds on my laptops with their n cards. I wasn't able to do this with another n speed router either, so maybe it's a configuration issue with my computers (though their n cards are supposed to work). As all the n speed routers are really draft n, I'd been warned not to expect complete hardware compatibility. I don't have all the time in the world to work with tech support...so I sent this AP back because my current Netgear wg302 AP works fine at 54 mbps. I've seen others post about getting n speed connections, so it must work...just not for me.

Great -- when it works, September 7, 2007
By user (Marathon, FL United States)
This device worked as promised with easy setup when I first got it in October 2006. Less than wo months later, it quit working. No internet throughput wireless or wired. Customer service returned via RMA -- I had to pay to return, but all worked. For a while. Just quit again this summer and waiting customer service OK to send back. They seem to be taking longer this time???
Looking to buy something else to replace since this cant' be counted on when needed.

No-prob wireless access point, March 17, 2007
By user (Bahrain)
Works beautifully with my hp nc6400 laptop. easy web configuration. included all necessary cables (including a good LAN cable) and latest firmware was already installed. I just plugged it in my gigabit switch and power, it's been running beautifully with good connections all over my house. I stream DVDs to my laptop from my server which has Internet sharing turned on so it acts as my DHCP server as well. This is NOT a router, so you need to have Internet setup from a different machine/device and some DHCP service should be running somewhere on your network. Not the place for netwroking 101 here.
