Works with XLink Kai and PSP, Vista SP1 x64 Drivers (and maybe x86) do not work!, July 28, 2008
By N. Goodman
This item works great when being used on 32-bit XP, however I could not get this device to work on 64-bit Vista SP1. The Vista SP1 driver provided by Planex simply does not work as of July 28, 2008. This might be fixed in the future.

I did not try to install this device on Linux, but I have read reports that it is difficult.

Make sure to read the XLink Kai forums. They have tutorials on how to install and use this device under various system configurations. Do not follow their advice on force installing XP drivers for Vista SP1, this can (as in my case) permanently break the drivers for this device.

    Horrible device, July 23, 2008
By Ronald Carter Jr. (Romlus, MI)
I did NOT like the crap this device put me thorough. It fights with my current wireless adapter that I used for my computer's internet. It just is not user friendly whatsoever and trying to get the computer to recognize the device is like pulling teeth. Windows refused to recognize the device even after the drivers were installed and I have to force windows to take those. Had to play "Which usb slot" because none of the 8 that's on my computer recognized it twice in a row... More than a headache, it's an ulcer. DOES NOT WORK WITH XLINK KAI!

    I need help, February 8, 2008

For people wanting to get a wireless connection without security so you can connect your wii or ds to it, this works great. But this is not what I bought this product for. I thought it worked like the Nintendo Wifi Usb Adapter that busted on me. I cant find anything in the manual about wired connection. The nintendo usb adapter takes the wired connection on your computer and turns into wireless signal for your ds and wii. This is not doing what i want it to do. Anyone please help if i'm wrong and i can convert my wired connection into a wireless connection, not just rerouting a wireless connection into another wireless connection.

I ordered this product to play Monster Hunter Freedom and other PSP games online that were unable to do more then ad-hoc in the past. Using the XLink Kai program this will let you play any game that does not have infrastructure with anyone else who uses XLink Kai in the world. As long as the game has some form of Ad-Hoc play, you'll love this product.

Definitely works great, with far less trouble/hassle then the WiFiMax counterpart.

Happy Gaming

A Little Hard To Get Started, But..., January 28, 2008
By extraflux
I bought this guy a little over a month ago. It was a little hard to get installed (no.1 the software included with it is out of date :| and no.2 the manual makes it look easy to get going...it wasn't)

BUT! now that I've got it humming, it works like magic. I can take my DSL online w/o an issue. Perfect. Some teething issues, but worth it.

I checked this dood out and it has a lot of lead in it, check the prev reviews, comes from china with lots of heavy metal. Would buy again, thats what my friend Iron Man said, he wants some new Lead Boots.

Great Price, Poor Instructions!, January 25, 2008
By Joe (Gettysburg, PA United States)
I am not a network expert, but I know more than the average person as far as computer devices. It still took me about 2-3 hours and multiple installs to get this to work. I don't give up easily, or else I would've thrown it away after the first hour of frustration. The included instructions helps you get started, but not detail enough to help choose the correct settings. It was more or less trial and error. Before it finally worked, it would sometimes lock up my Windows XP. Then it was a matter of Rebooting, uninstalling the driver/software, rebooting, reinstall driver/software, try another combination of settings.

I chose this because I needed a low cost Access Point to connect Nintendo DS units to the web without lowering my Linksys Wireless Router security settings. The DS only connects with low (or no) wireless security. Given the time it took for me to get this to work, you should consider the more expensive Nintendo brand wireless USB device. But if you want a challenge, or naturally have good luck, go for it!

    Works great!, December 31, 2007

It is easier to use and way cheaper then Wifi Max! Xlink works great on this. I haven't get a chance to test it with other game consoles yet but this is really what you need if you intend to play your psp over the net. Get it!

    Masterpiece!, October 21, 2007
By Derek Covert
This I must admit is quality at its best.. For only under 21 dollars (could only be 17 depending on if the 2 day free shipping deal is still there) you get a very nice and useful wifi adaptar with both supported channels of g and b as well as 54mbits data transfer. The signal on it is very decent if not extrodinary and when used with x-link kai, works like a charm. If you want to use it for X-link kai, be advised that you will need to find instructions elsewhere, since the company will not support them directly!

Here is a link to a guide I found that should do the trick: [link removed]
(Before you use this, make sure you have the software for the wifi adapter installed properly with Windows Zero Configuration utility instead of using RaConfig, and enable the X-Link mode under Network Connections (right click Gw mini2 adapter and select properties -> click configure -> click advanced tab -> scroll down to find and enable it.)

Great for Xlink, September 9, 2007

I purchased this product for use with Xlink and so far it has been flawless. Even though it doesn't come packaged with instructions for xlink, I found them online easily.

    Awesome!, August 2, 2007

This item works great with xlink kai, but the manual does not offer help on xlink setting. You'll have to look it up online.

    Nice one!, May 8, 2007
By John Martin
I bought this product because Planex is a renown company in Japan with
their uniqueness and productivity. They also support Xlink Kai server, so the online gamer must be comfortable to use it.
