    I love it., July 24, 2008

I like how easy it was to set up. When I tried it right away, I had liked it so much that I had bought one for my parents who go to florida for two months out of the year and missed watching there local news. But now they can.

Very easy to install. I have two Slingbox's in my home and I will be getting a few more. There's alot you can do with them. Right now I have one to control my house camera's and one to control the TV in my Computer Room.

I'm currently working abroad in Germany for 6 months and simply love my sling box. I can watch my local news and keep up to date on the market. The picture quality is superb.

I'm a gadget guy and this is one of the coolest gadgets I've ever purchased. The video quality over my LAN, both wired and wireless are excellent. Setup for local use is easy, haven't setup remote viewing. It saved me from paying for another satellite receiver(s). Two thumbs up!

The Slingbox AV is small and easy to install. I wish I got it sooner.

    OUTSTANDING, March 28, 2008

I bought this product based on the many great reviews and I was not disappointed. I installed the equipment very easily on my home network. The box is fairly compact so it does not take up alot of real estate. The picture quality and control that I get on my laptop is amazing. I access the device while commuting to and from work in NYC. It has made my train ride acceptable even when there are delays. Video quality is execellent when connecting to my wireless g router at home and very good to acceptable depending on location with the verizon aircard that I use while on the train. The sling software constantly attempts to optimize and buffer the signal. We were even able to watch our home TV on our laptop while on vacation in the Cayman Islands simply through the wifi connection at our resort. Next to my Garmin GPS this is the best purchase I have made in the past year. Best part is that there is no subscription costs, once you have the hardware you are done.

This is the coolest little gadget! Combined with my FIOS 15Mbs upload internet service, the video and audio are both smooth. Very easy to set up too.

The box works well once it is set up. Picture clarity is better than expected. I get some missed frames when you stray too far from the WiFi source. Overall it is quite good. The setup was almost impossible to accomplish on your own. I had to call the slingbox tech support twice to get the Verizon FIOS router configured to accept external access. The setup instructions and the Slingbox CD did not have drivers for my specific router so the tech had me use generic drivers that ultimate worked fine but the outdated device list just added to confusion during the setup.

Setup was smooth and easy. However, I recommend contacting Tech Support to help optimize your setup for better performance. Not a requirement, but very helpful in my case [firewall, DHCP, etc]

I bought the Slingbox AV model to connect my DVR to the internet to watch and record TV at home in FL while I am working in the UK. The setup was smooth, although I did contact Tech Support for help in optimizing my setup. Tech Support was very responsive. [Thx, Becks]

Would highly recommend this unit to anyone looking to remotely connect to an existing unit.

    Awlsome device!, March 19, 2008

Easy to set-up. Easy to use. Downloaded software to my Blackjack II and it works pretty good. Need a good cellular signal, though, to help prevent stuttering of video. Can control my Dish Network receiver from my cell-phone!
Tried Sony's LocationFree. It requires a lot of upload bandwidth and was more difficult to set-up than the SlingBox. LocationFree doesn't work on Windows Mobile 6. But the SlingBox does!!!

A friend of mine purchased this for Christmas and raved about it. Since I commute a long distance for work and spend a considerable amount of time away from home, this product was a great idea but I was concerned about how well it would work. Since the box monopolizes a cable box, I set up one box that wouldn't be used. It took all of 10 minutes to set up and was working like a charm. I was still worried that it wouldn't work once I left my home network but I just tried it and it works great. Of course, the quality of the video isn't perfect but it's very good especially in smaller sizes. The docking is great--I'm using it right now while I type this review and watch Jay Leno. There is a slight delay when sending commands to from your computer to the cable box but given that it's several hundred miles away, a 2-second delay is entirely reasonable. I have not noticed any delay between audio and video. If you've watched good quality DVD rips, this is similar quality. As well, the ability to create "hotkeys" for each station means I don't have to remember channel numbers for each place I'm in.

I can't recommend this product enough for technophiles, TV lovers, and gadgeteers. For a little over $100 this is an easy investment to make.

This device is awesome. Wish there was a way to record but other than that it is super great idea. Would love to see next version. I want more of them for the office too.

I use my Slingbox extensively. I work a third shift job where I watch TV while tethered to the internet/Sligbox threw my Black Berry. Not only do I enjoy my favorite SCFI flicks but I ran my security camera system into the Slingbox so I can keep an on my residence. VERY COOL!

What a great product! The hardware is compact and simple to set up. The IR blasters work well and the player software is stable and elegant. This is a great solution for travelers and people with second homes.

Amazing and User Friendly!, February 27, 2008

I got this as a present from my employer at Christmas and this thing is amazing.

I am a Mac user and have a DVR from my Cable provider. I got the Slingbox along with the Slinglink and within 10 minutes I was up and running. I have traveled across the US and out of the country on 2 occasions and not had to miss one show or event that I wanted to see.

I would highly recommend. I hate to hear that a few people have had setup issues but I don't even know how that is possible. I even got my PS3 working on my network through the Slinglink and it is moving much faster than it did over my WiFi connection.

Thanks Slink Media for providing a fabulous product with no subscription. By the way... I will be buying these as gifts for some friends and family.

Good bang for the buck, February 26, 2008
By user (New Haven, CT USA)
It was easy for me to set it up. Initially I had a port problem, so I called Sling for help. The phone wait was short and the tech got me hooked up in a few minutes.
It definitely does what it says it does-transfers your cable TV signal to any computer (with an internet connection). I've had no trouble getting all my myriad stations.
The only con is that you can't believe the hype about picture quality. It is decent but not great by any means.
There is few second response delay when using the 'remote' control.
Minor quibbles...
Overall I love having this on my laptop at work or when traveling. It was the best $100 I've spent in a long time.

Excellent product. worked right out of the box. Simply follow the simple instructions and you would not have any problem setting it up. Picture quality is better than i expected and works seemlessly. I would highly recommend this product to any one who wants to access their DVR box remotely.

    Wayyyyy Coolness, February 23, 2008

I love this thing. I can watch TV anywwhere on my Nokia Smartphone using sling player. Also can watch TV (and Tivo) on my laptop when I'm travelling.

Video quality is much better than I expected.

Set up was easy- initially I was afraid that setting up something that sounds this complicated would be a nightmare. It comes with excellent set up instructions: I was up and running in 20 minutes without needing tech support, FAQ's, or searching for answers on the web.

This thing is too cool: if you have Tivo and a Smartphone you must get a slingbox.

    A really great product., February 19, 2008
By user (Champaign, IL, USA)
This is a really great product for viewing your Sat TV or cable on the road, but really dependent on your UPLOAD speed. The documentation says min 256KB but that is barely enough. I have 385 and the picture is still slow. I would recommend faster.
Setup was really difficult, but most of that was due to my old (not Plug and Play) router.
The online help was great though. They were super friendly and great to work with.

I'll just say Sling MEdia has it going on. MY family uses this to have our satelite tv at our second home. We can also watch on a motorola Q when we travel. Great Stuff. With a good connection the picture is great. Works with our Dish reciever and has the exact remote we have at our house already programmed into it. Awesome products from SLing. I suggest this product to anyone. Anyone! Easy to use!
