| Description: |
| Start using your notebook the smart way - without wires! SMC's 2Mbps Wireless LAN Solution provides the easiest network alternative to wired LANs. It seamlessly integrates with existing Ethernet networks to support applications such as mobile users. This solution offers fast, reliable wireless connectivity with considerable cost savings over wired LANs when considering the long-term maintenance overhead of cabling. Just install enough access points to cover your network area, plug wireless cards into your PCs, and start networking. These wireless products create an instant network that integrates seamlessly with 10Mbps Ethernet LANs. Furthermore, re-locating or expanding your network is as easy as installing additional access points. It also allows you to quickly expand your network throughput or coverage area by adding additional Access Points.Designed to connect two or more separate Local Area Networks (usually located in different buildings), the SMC2682W EZ Connect Wireless Bridge is the easiest alternative to a traditional wired network. It delivers high data rate and allows personnel in a corporate campus environment to access all local and remote network resources. The wireless bridge is also a cost-effective solution. It eliminates the need of expensive cabling and difficult-to-install leased lines. Overall, the SMC wireless bridge is a fast, reliable, and cost-effective solution. |

SMC 2682W, August 2, 2001
By user (Madison, WI United States)
The bridge set up in just a few minutes and their technical support has been wonderful. Beware their maximum range claims. Using the additional high-gain antennae, I can link the two bridges at just under half a mile. The link is intermittent though, and I do not see it working any further than half a mile unless you have an absolutely clear line of sight. Once I established a link between the two the speed has been good, but it does not work during hot humid days.
