    Complete Junk, December 3, 2007
By Al (ARVADA, CO USA)
This product is a piece of junk. Wired routing works OK, but wireless is worthless. It keeps dropping my connection every few minutes. Called their 24/7 tech support and was told they will call me back when they can. I updated the firmware, but that didn't help. BTW, my laptop worked great with two other routers I had (D-Link and Linksys), but this one is complete junk. Save your money. I'd give this 0 stars if I could.

A solid router for a reasonable price (especially with the rebate)!, October 20, 2007
By M. Overly (Asheboro, NC USA)
My wife and I have had this router for a day or two now and so far it has not given us any problems. I was able to set up the router with our Roadrunner cable broadband box very easily because of the CD that comes with the router. It has a step by step tutorial that allows you to install everything with ease. However, make sure you do install the Network Magic program at the end, especially if your main computer with the router is your desktop, because this program makes setting up the security for your router sooooo much easier! I have not experienced problems with the signal not going through walls, but my wife uses her laptop in our living room table close by to the desktop, so I can't really comment on the signals ability to go through walls. We have an older house, it was built in 1926, so since the walls may be thicker than newer homes if I see a problem, or not, I will edit this review at a later time. In general, buy this router and especially while there is still a $20 rebate available....you won't regret it! I can also say that my wife's parents and her sister have the exact same router as well and have had no complaints!
*Since I last wrote this review I tried to see how it would do in other rooms throughout the house and it worked fine. I can also add that my wife was able to connect onto the internet at her parents' house from outside as well and they have the same router. So walls were not a problem.*

Great router but range may be an issue, September 26, 2007
By David A. Thompson (Fresno, CA United States)
Let's put the highest praise first: I just bought my second TEW-432BRP (first is at home; second is for work/office). Why?

1. Major selling point for me: Configuration is very easy. As a linux user, hardware often becomes a trouble point. Although the manual accompanying the unit suggests you need to run a Windows package off of a CD to set up the router, the entire configuration can be done via the web. It's hard to imagine things getting much easier... To top it off, the configuration is pretty comprehensive, allowing you to configure the device from a number of different angles (WEP/WPA support, filters, firewalling, ...)

2. Second major selling point: I'm cheap -- the price is definitely on the reasonable side

Other notes:

- The range is just fine if the building is "wireless-friendly". I have no problem connecting from one end of our 4-bedroom home (2000+ sq ft) where the router is situated at the other end of the home. On the other hand, the router I bought for work is problematic. When the router is on the first floor of the building and I am on the lower floor but otherwise nearby, the connection quality is very poor. This may be related to the construction of the building - lots of metal in the walls with cinderblock structure for the weight-bearing walls.

- having 4 LAN ports is nice if you want to plug in an internet printer or other internet devices

- my first router has lasted many months w/continuous use - reliability doesn't seem to be an issue - we'll see how the second one does

TrendNet == Buy another router, August 24, 2007
By AC (Ark)
My Netgear just went bad and I fell for a cheaper one.. Turned out too bad.

The Router often resets for no good reason.. I can't stay connected any longer than 10 minutes.. the router gets heated up..

I'm returning and buying a linksys.

GREAT Router for a GREAT Price!!!, July 30, 2007

This is a Great little router w/ a great price. I agree with another poster that my connection actually seems faster now. Easy setup, just pop in the disc & follow instructions. You won't be disappointed with this router

Cheap, Low bit rate, and signal, July 9, 2007
By Steven Zuber
Well it basically works but only for a thirty foot range NO WALLS! And if you want it to be on one floor and work on another FORGET ABOUT IT! Other than that it works fine if you are very close which pretty much defeats the purpose.

I just got my product today. I have great wireless connection and it was really easy to install. I on it right now I hope it last without any connection drops.

Bad Tech Support, June 18, 2007
By art nouveau lover (los angeles, california United States)
I was trying to setup my new router and had to call Trendnet Tech Support. The tech was really really rude and not helpful at all. I am still trying to figure out how to set it up own my own and am really frustrated.

good router, with unique options in firmware, June 12, 2007
By Picky Consumer
Upgrading finally from my B router. Probably the last one in the neighborhood to do so.

There are three versions of the TEW-432BRP (the outer casings look slightly different). They're roughly labelled A, B, and C. I wound up with the C one. Its the best G router i've ever seen, for a few reasons:

1. "Easy CD" actually worked and led me through a wizard that had me running in under 5 minutes. It was even intelligent enough to figure out that my cable company's router needed a reset.

2. When you go into the firmware, there are some interesting and unusual settings you can tweak. It has the usual things like 'dont broadcast ssid' and all the rest of it. But it also had unusual settings that I'd never seen before, like the ability to set the output of its signal at "full power" or "half power" or "quarter" or "eigth" or "minimum". Seemed like an interesting option; I usually sit 10 feet from it, maybe I can reduce the microwaves bombarding my brain? I tried it on the various levels and did throughput tests. Interestingly, it was at "quarter power" that I had the fastest throughput. I dont know why, but I can live with that. I was glad to have that option to reduce the output signal's power level in the router, though.

3. Excellent transmission spread, strong signal, and fast. I know the bottleneck is supposed to be the dsl/cable conneciton itself, but I would swear my browsing is faster and snappier now. And my connection speed to my local network drive improved five-fold (which was why I got a g router in the first place).

Its a great deal under twenty-five on sale.

    A great value!, June 8, 2007

I was looking for an inexpensive, simple to use wireless router in order to connect my desktop and laptop with my DSL. This router was a great price with the rebate, and proved very easy to set up. The wizard guides you through not only setting up the router, but setting up shared files and printers between computers. Of note, the networking software included with the router installs with full access to all functions, however if you don't subscribe to the service within 30 days, some of the functions are disabled after the 30 days (the reason for 4 stars instead of 5). Not a problem since all the networking can be set manually through Windows XP if you prefer, but the included software does make networking a bit more user-friendly. Overall, I highly recommend this router. The signal is plenty strong for my 4 room condo. The user support is fairly responsive, too, with 24x7 availability; they were able to guide me through setting up the router security after I had some initial trouble with the step-by-step instructions offered on the website.

Good Little Router, March 19, 2007
By Namo Amitabha (Foster City, CA)
Cheap router, good download speeds, basic functions.

I'm using this router with my DSL PPOE connection. Initial setup was a breeze until I kept receiving an error message from the provided install disk (which proved worthless for setting up a wireless connection). A call to customer service as well as info gathered from other reviews lead me to page 26 of the Quick Start Manual where under Q2 you can find all the info to the web configuration page and setup a WAP password. After configuring the web setup page, everything was a breeze.

Download speeds are about the same as my Linksys Wireless Router. I've only had this unit for a day now, but so far so good. I will update this review if any major changes happen.

Easiest Wireless Router I Have Ever Installed, March 10, 2007
By J. C. Sauer (Hampstead, North Carolina)
Very easy router to install. Pop the CD into your PC. Keep your PC attached to your modem until instructed to attach it to the Trendnet Modem and that is all there is to it.

The Trendnet modem software learns all of your ISP setting while your PC is attached to your Modem and then sets the Trendnet router correctly to work from the first get go. No fussing with the question of am I on a DSL service or a Cable Broadband service, each of which require different settings as they operate in different ways.

    Weak, September 15, 2006
By zynnel (MD, United States)
I researched what is available on the market, and this router had all the features I wanted - MAC filtering, WPA password protection, 54 Mbps, can be used as a switch, works with PC and Mac. Trendware offered a nice rebate too. All this is great but when there is a wall between my PowerBook and the router, the reception drops a lot, and sometimes completely. It only works well when they are in the same room. This could be due to the fact that there are other wireless networks around which interfere with mine. I don't know. I thought I would give heads up for those looking for a reliable router.

    A great router, August 5, 2006
By Husain Bengali
I did quite a bit of research before deciding to purchase this router and I haven't regretted the decision.

Initially, I had a problem where the router would freeze whenever transferring large amounts of data via wireless. I managed to narrow down the cause to my selection of AES encryption for WPA. Once I changed the encryption back to the default TKIP, the problems disappeared and I haven't had to reboot the router since.

My only ongoing complaint is that the router automatically reboots itself after any change in settings.

Overall, a reliable product!

Good performance for the price, April 15, 2006
By D. Bendig (Saddle Brook, NJ United States)
For an economy router this thing is pretty good. I've been using it for about a month and it's performed reliably over that time. Setup could have been easier, but once I got it working everything was fine.

The configuration utility on this router was not nearly as polished as the one on my Netgear 802.11b router. However, if I wanted to use a fairly standard setup then it probably would have been a breeze. Unfortunately for me, I have a home server that takes care of my network and I wanted to use this router more as an access point. This took an hour or so of playing with the configuration until I got the router to work with DHCP disabled. I discovered that if you are not well versed in networking jargon then the poorly documented configuration utility will be a major headache (for non-standard configurations).

The signal strength is decent. I typically get a 48Mbps connection from about 15 feet away. When I use it from about 30 feet away through a few walls the connection drops down to around 36Mbps. I have not experienced any noticeable dropped packets, and have had very few dropped connections. So far I haven't had to restart the device at all.

If you're able to pick this router up for a good price then I would recommend it.

Easy setup, good coverage, March 14, 2006
By Ganesh Kumar (Lansdale, PA, USA)
Easy to setup (took less than 45 minutes).

Strong Wi-Fi signal, works fine two rooms across.

Very useful and convenient as it has both wired and wireless options. I use the wired option (LAN connection) for my desktop computer and VOIP phone and the wireless for my laptop.

Definitely recommend it.

all right and cost efficient, February 23, 2006
By graybear (Memphis, TN United States)
It was easy to set up when I did not choose to enable security features. But be sure to read the manual if you have no wireless router setup experiences.

However, it seemed to me WEP (wired equivalent privacy) did not work. I had to choose WPA-PSK, which is technically a better choice. It was very painful for me to set it up. I eventually had to upgrade all my wireless adapter's driver and configuration utility, and give up Microsoft's wireless zero configuration. I often need to restart the router to get connection.

So far I have not been able to identify that it was a problem of the wireless adapters or a problem of the router. But if you do have some knownledge of wirless networking, I would recommend you it because it is quite cheap after all.

    Trendnet TEW-432BRP wireless router, January 30, 2006
By vishwa (Nashville, TN)
The router works fine, but I wish they had specifically told us that the CD that comes along with contains "only" the installation manual and no s/w. Since I had already installed these kinds of wireless router before, I had no problems, but I am pretty sure that a newbie would struggle with it. They must say that one has to open a web browser and point it to the address http://192.168.1.1 and use "admin" as the default user name and passwd to get into the system admin tool s/w.

OK product. Could have been better and simpler, January 29, 2006
By Giri (Fremont,CA)
The product has far too complicated setup process. The product itself worked well enough after all the steps in the setup.
