Up and running in 10 minutes!, August 12, 2008
By user (Pittsburgh, PA)
I needed to get a new adapter for my PC after my old one died on me after 2 years. I installed the software and followed the SIMPLE directions and was up and running in 10 minutes!
My signal strength is strong and I'm very satisfied with the product so far. I can't comment on the longevity of the adapter as I just set it up yesterday but based on initial setup and price this little adapter easily gets 5 stars.
Oh, by the way, my wireless router is about 15 feet away through one wall and I run Windows XP if you're curious. This thing cost only $12 after a $10 mail in rebate at the time I purchased it(8/08). Hope this helps!

Gets crazy hot!, August 7, 2008
By user
So far, works pretty well. The utility that comes with it sometimes acts flaky, and doesn't start or doesn't connect right away. For this type of solid-state device, it gets incredibly hot! Almost too hot to touch! Given that, probably not going to last long. The range is ok, nothing special. Of course, the greatest thing about these is the price.

A little funky, but well worth the money, June 28, 2008
By user (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)
I'm very happy with this purchase. It works like it should and it was one of the cheapest out there. Now let's hope it doesn't die on me within half a year or so....
Pros: Cheap, Good range (through 2 walls), NOT ONCE disconnected in 2 weeks + use, works like a charm
Cons: wide form factor (might prevent you from accessing USB slots next to the one being used), low quality workmanship, status LED too big (possibly leading to extra heat?)

TRENDnet54Mbps Wireless G USB Adapter
I bought this wireless adapter because of the price and I guess it is true what they say...you get what you pay for. I had this product for only 45 days before it just quit on me.

Junk, June 1, 2008
By user (Seattle, WA)
I picked this up because most of the similar options from big-name alternatives had some issue or other. I should've stuck with those issues, because this is junk. I've tried it with several computers and a couple of different driver versions, and every single one has suffered from unreliability and frequent network dropouts despite showing that it was A-OK and despite other computers on the network located right next to it working fine. On a purely aesthetic note it's an ugly design that sticks out in every sense of the phrase however you try to move it. Just avoid it.

I have had a really nice experience with this product. I have had a hassle free year with this gadget and in the meantime I have been recommending it to many people. Go for it, its worth the money spent.

Great product consider the price, May 15, 2008
By user (Dallas, TX USA)
The drive so far works great. The signal and the speed of my internet connection are good. I can also attest to the sturdiness of the hardware. I accidentally dropped the laptop on the carpet and the drive is at the back of the computer. The whole drive was bent and the cover came off. I thought for sure I have lost it. But I just bent the drive flat and clip on the cover, plugged it in. There it was, working again. I have only used it for a month, so I cannot testify for the longevity of the drive. But so far so good. Did I mention the price, this is pretty much the cheapest one listed. So, I am very happy with it.

Works great....software not so good, April 30, 2008

I'll make this short and sweet. The adapter works great. The fact that you HAVE to use their included wireless management software stinks.

Does not work with Tivo, April 12, 2008
By user (hartford,CT)
This adapter is not compatible with Tivo Series 2. I'm not saying this is a bad adapter, there are a lot of adapters that are not compatible with Tivo. It does work fine with my laptop. Just a warning if you were looking into hooking up a Tivo to a wireless network using this.

Great little wireless adapter, April 10, 2008
By user (Eastern KY)
This purchase is my third usb wireless adapter from Trendnet. These adapters are an inexpensive way to connect to a wireless system and all three were easy to set up and have performed flawlessly. I use them in my children's machines and if I find that my children are misusing the internet, I just have to simply unplug them and they have no internet.

connects great one slight problem, April 8, 2008
By user (Boulder, Colorado)
Our computer is connecting just fine. However, we did have to remove the protection cap to plug it into the usb port on the front of our pc. You can put the cap back on though.

Needs Software Update, April 5, 2008
By user
This Wifi adapter needs new driver set. It works on some computers, but not others with the included drivers. However when I installed the generic Realtek drivers manually or let windows pick it out for me, there were no problems.

Dead after 4 days, Terrible Customer Service, April 3, 2008
By user (Lander, WY)
I picked up this item as a backup for some PCI wireless cards and had occasion to use it last week. I noticed that it was running REALLY hot, and had alright signal reception (not great, not poor) ~ it was acceptable for the price paid. Then it started dropping connections and failing to connect (mostly on starting the computer, it took a long time to connect). Then it died. I tested on several computers with the same result, Device Not Found or a 10 second cycle where the device would be found, then lost, then found, then lost... Sent an email to Trendnet customer service and waited. A few days later I Called because I hadn't gotten a reply and was treated Very poorly. Call ended with being told to take it back to the retailer where it was purchased... THEY DON'T EVEN WARRANTY THEIR OWN PRODUCTS. If products never failed, then I wouldn't have a gripe... but the fact is that they do fail, and the measure of a company is how they treat their customers. Given that, I could never recommend Trendnet to anyone.

This product is great for the price. Maybe the size is a little big, since I cant have anything else next to the usb drive where the device is.

Great product for price, March 6, 2008
By user
We bought this for our kids computer. There is no line to hook into in their playroom so we needed a wireless internet USB. After pricing and reading reviews we chose this one and have been happy with it so far. It was very easy to install and the only thing we have had to do to maintain the connection is take it out and rehook it to reestablish internet connection.

A bit slow...doesn't do well when sending larger files. for basic browsing of the web or networking, barely gets the job done.
