USR 2249 Access Point was a good piece of gear, February 26, 2007
By user (Fort Gordon in Augusta, Georgia)
I have owned a 2249 Access point for four years and have not had the first problem with it. I will admit that the 802.11b wireless standard is obsolete in the face of draft "N", but for a solid piece of connectivity gear it has been terrific. It's ability to function in so many roles is what sold me on it and I've used it as an access point and as a wireless client. I am going to reconfigure it to serve as a repeater for my bedroom wireless music system next. (Thick concrete walls are the death of 802.11x wireless!) Regarding the other reviews listed here, cordless phones in the 2.4Ghz band will ABSOLUTELY disrupt the wireless network, so purchase a 5Ghz phone and you will have no problems. The other gentleman appears to have problems with several diffent brands of wireless kit so it's likely there are other factors not mentioned.

Beware of this product if you own a cordless phone!, February 4, 2004

After using a Netgear access point, which died after one year, we decided to replace it with the USRobotics 2249 access point. It seemed to work okay at first, but suddenly started dropping the users (3 of us) constantly. We continued to use it to try and see what might be causing the drops. Finally, we called USRobotics (no 800 number, of course...), and we were informed that this unit is "sensitive" to 2.4Ghz cordless phones!
