Yes! The Zyxel M-202 is really a piece of junk! Zyxel has rolled out several driver/firmware update versions in the past 1.5 years trying to trouble shoot Windows XP incompability issues in some newer PC...but to date: none has worked! And now, they have decided to delete all (everything!) M-202 related support/update materials from their website and to date has not returned any of our emails. I have owned several Zyxel products including the "old" G-200 (which works fine...after updating the driver) and so far this MIMO adapter is one of the rotten lemons. Also, the NetGear MIMO USB adapter is working okay for me but it tends to heat up fast.

Easy to set up - works great on my desktop!, November 21, 2007

I admit, I know practically nothing about wireless networking. I bought the Zyxel (550?)Router and this adapter based on reviews. I can't believe how easy it was to set up and how fast my computer is now!!! I have hughest net satellite (which is horrible! I don't recommend them to anyone! Just read reviews at broadband forums and watch out for their FAP.) anyhow, to continue...since I hooked up Zyxel router and Zyxel network adapter it is work a hundred times faster and both computer work superbly! I am a non-technical person so can't give you and numbers - but it was an easy setup and I'm very pleased with the results. If it matters, I live in a rural area where's there's no DSL and lots of trees. The router and adapter are three rooms away. I am very pleased and no problems! Excellent Fast Transmission.

I'm very glad with this product,it's very nice in shape and its rang is very suitable tomy home, The only thing that I rated it only 4 stars that
I installed it on my laptop which already has a built in wireless card but it don't work,So I bought this one after installation the windows give a massage that the driver of the device is using a location used by windows. So the utility is not working but the adaptor is working and i can access my internet from any where at home .
I will install this adaptor on my old computer to see if the utility will work.
Any Way this adaptor is great regarding also its price.

I found the Xtreme Mimo to be very easy to install and have not noticed any difference in speed from when I was connected by a Cat5 cable to my router

Zyxel can do better than this., August 13, 2007

I bought 2 of these units hoping for better connectivity. I got it...kind of. I had to place the unit in a more open area. No big deal, but not what I had planned. Also, the install can be fussy. The Zyxel software crashed during install and after a few tries I gave up on the software and just used the windows wireless management tool. It works and through put is pretty good. Not a perfect solution if you ask me.

I bought two M-202s to upgrade my old 802.11b WEP adapters to 802.11g with WAP. I had some problems during the installation process on Windows XP-SP2 ("Illegal System DLL Relocation") but called costumer support and was given a link to a Microsoft hotfix (KB935448 ). The adapter worked once I downloaded and installed the hotfix. On my first installation, only the administrator could access the adapter. Other users could not access the wireless connection. Then I decided to uninstall the software included in the installation CD and let Windows XP manage the adapter using only the driver included in the installation CD. Everything worked well after these minor setbacks. I have two M-202 working seamlessly with an old Lynksys WRT54G router. Connectivity is good in all areas of my house. Xyzel costumer support was friendly and helpful. I think this adapter is a good bargain for $13.

Strongly disagree with other reviewers. In my case it works great and provides stronger performance even at lower coverage areas. In addition, it reduces connection time to available wi-fi's to 1-2 seconds, which is really-really fast.

In short - highly recommended.

Wish I could give it 0 stars. I got it in mid-June and was really excited that I'd get MIMO performance with my Zyxel X-550 router. As soon as I installed it, my PC started locking up (XP SP2). Looked for new drivers and/or firmware on the Zyxel website, but NO. There's a link to what it SAYS is a driver, but the 13MB download is a copy of the installation CD WITHOUT the driver at all. Sent an email to Zyxel and have gotten no reply at all. This thing is nothing but a POS.

Well done, certainly not MIMO, July 15, 2007

This is a well done USB wireless G adapter as plain as they come, well performing and works with Vista.

It contains a Zydas (now owned by Atheros) chipset. Atheros has always defined anything with more than one antenna as MIMO. Atheros has re-named a 51 year old technology of antenna diversity as MIMO, and they are certainly not the same thing. The advertisment is total fiction. This device is not the partner for Zyxel's router by the same name. There is some good news. . .

However, this small USB device works better than most, the drivers for Zydas are finally mature, and it will get any XP or Vista computer connected to any wireless router as easily as possible.

Be aware that if you "duke it out" in competition for attention to a True Mimo or "N" wireless router that this quite ordinary "G" device is going to get cut off. An exception is that Belkin's "N" router won't cut off outdated "G" clients like this one.

However, if you buy it, knowing that its a plain "G" wireless, then you'll not be disappointed. It works well, and it will quickly connect your Vista to your Linksys (or any brand) with no trouble whatsoever.

I disagree with the other reviewer, works great for me and has a long range.

I bought a couple of the Xtreme MIMO M-202 USB units and have a short review:
Set up is easy and utility provides a simple set of functions but probably won't please those wanting more than the basics. The driver is Microsoft certified and seems to take few processor system resources and has caused no problems with other software.

But I expected a MIMO device to provide longer range than an 802.11g/b device which just is not the case. The unit does seem to maintain a connection better than many WiFi products at low signal levels, but this is no better than current version 802.11b/g products based on Atheros and other 3rd generation chips. I expected an improvement from the use of MIMO but either because the product does not implement true MIMO or because the antenna arrangement used in the small USB device does not provide enough diversity or amplification, the M202 falls far short of expectations.

I have not tested the M-202 with an xtreme MIMO or other manufacturer's access point. Perhaps the MIMO capabilities will work between other similar MIMO devices. But at a stand alone, this product is not worth buying unless you can get it for a price similar to non-MIMO 802.11g/b USB products.
